I am now completely convinced I have ovarian cancer! At first I was having stomach cramps but found that was due to an antibiotic I was on. Now I am having all new symptoms! I have been having back pain that starts in my kidney area and goes down to my lower back(hip butt area). NO I don't have a kidney infection or stones...they did a urine test for that twice in the past 4 days. I have pain about a hand width away from my belly button and down in my pelvic region. And now I have the need to urinate all the time. Not to mention some lower abdominal cramping. I asked my OB/GYN if this could be a possibility last week when I saw him but he said he "would be willing to bet a ***** load of money on the fact that I don't". Because he did not feel any masses when I had my annual check up 2 weeks ago. I think he just missed them completely. He did say he would do an ultrasound this week when I get the results from my colposcopy back. At first I was at ease when he said that and thought maybe I was just crazy since the stomach cramps I was having was probably due to the antibiotic. But now I am convinced he is completely wrong! I am so scared!!!!!! I know that by the time these symptoms show up it is usually too late to do anything about it.

first of all, calm yourself. You are convincing yourself of something that you dont even know if you have. You need to be positive.......there are so many things that it could be.....your jumping to the worst case scenario. First of all urine tests dont tell you if you have a stone, only an infection. Secondly, iif you were having a antibiotic related colitis it takes a long long time to go away. Third, you just had a exam, put some faith in your doctor, if you dont trust him/her than go to another one, preferably recommended by a friend/family member.
Are you a anxious person? Do you suffer from anxiety. It sounds like you do.....try to stop self diagnosing and leave that to the medical profession. Talk your concerns with your primary care doctor....but be open to what they say, it sounds like you are so worked up, doubting them, that you are asking them for tests that you think you need, and you may not.
Life is too short to worry too much.,,,, a little worry goes a long way :)
Good luck and keep us posted.

I am not usually an anxious person. That is what gets me about this....I just know there is something really wrong. I have ALL of the symptoms of ovarian cancer and there is little else that it could be. I have not slept in about a week and am a mess. As much as I try not to worry it just doesn't work. Just when I am having a good day and the "symptoms" seem to be gone, they come back even stronger and with even more symptoms. I am beginning to think God is playing a very cruel joke on me!!!

I know what you mean about worrying, it's hard not too. Just take a deep breath and keep your mind busy. That is what I'm trying to do. I have a pelvic mass that is complex in nature. I've had CT scan which showed fluid filled cyst possibly ovarian. Now I've had ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound and they showed complex pelvic mass possibly involving the ovaries. The mass is pushing on the dome of the bladder. I haven't noticed any urinary difficulities until recently. Can't hold it as long.
Good luck to you, try to think on other things and stay strong.

I understand what you are going through. I have been going through alot of pain lately and the drs really don't know what is wrong. Finding a doctor that you trust will help alot. If you feel as though they are listening to you it will help ease your fears a bit. It could be something minor, but you still want to feel better. Be persistent and try to keep track of what you eat. Good luck.

HI
There are a lot of things besides ovarian cancer that can cause abdominal and flank pain. And, a Urinalysis can't diagnose kidney stones, I'm sorry to say. I've had them several times.
I've also had ovarian cysts, and the pain can be quite severe with them. And despite what some doctors might tell you, they can't always feel them. An ultrasound is in order if one hasn't been done.
Also, you don't state your age, but have you been checked for IBS? How bout endometriosis? your symptoms could also very well be that, again, a doctor can't feel it, and it doesn't always show up on ultrasound. Mine sure didn't! So, I was blown off for years, until I finally drove the doctor so nuts, she did a lap and found it.
There are a zillion reasons for abdominal pain, hon.
But, you do have the right to know the cause of it. And, every right to be concerned.

I did get an ultrasound yesterday and they did not find any masses. Some slight fluid, but they did not think that could cause all this pain. At the time I was 15 days into my cycle so she said the pain should be subsiding if it was a cyst that ruptured or something when I ovulated. Normally I ovulate on the 17th day of my cycle not on the 14th or 15th day. The pain in my back and pelvis has increased greatly today!!!!! Worse than it ever was. Should I still insist on a ca-125 even though they did not find any masses? I just feel like there is something terribly wrong. I did breath a sigh of relief when they did not see anything on the ultrasound....how accurate are those at finding masses? The tech doubled checked at the end to make sure she didn't miss anything. She was very thorough I thought.

I would ask you doctor about endometriosis. It doesn't have to be severe to have severe pain. I had endometriosis and it can be very painful. Have you had any changes in your period, and are they regular?
Please try not to think the worst...but you do have every right to figure out what the pain is. Be persistent...persisent ongoing pain is your body telling you that something is going on, even if it isn't something serious. Good luck and I hope you are able to feel better soon.

HI
I think if you're in that severe of pain you should ask for a laparoscopy to see what is going on. When I had cysts, and endo for that matter, I was in pain ALL the time. It never went away.
And, what is the fluid from? If it's not supposed to be there, they need to find out where it's from, as fluid in the abdomen can be perotinitis, and that is from an infection, and that can cause severe pain.
Good luck!

She actually said the fluid was a normal part of ovulation and since there was just a little bit it could have also been from a ruptured cyst and my body was just absorbing it. I don't buy the ruptured cyst thing since I am in a heck of a lot more pain now than I was when she did the ultra sound.
I am wondering if I should be at ease that the ultrasound did not show any masses though. It is possible that she missed it?

I understand the feelings you are dealing with. For almost 5 months I have had symptoms of Ovarian Cancer. Pain, cramping, nausea, constipation, diahrea, even a little vomiting. I have been dealing with very large Ovarian Cysts.
I too thought Oh My God I have cancer !! I also had a CA125 done and it was normal.
You must have the Transvaginal done and see what is happening. I had a 6cm cyst on my left ovary and 2 cycles later it was gone and I had a cluster of small cysts. Yet I was still in pain even after the small cysts went away. They thought I had IBS at that point. Now I have a 7cm cyst on my right Ovary. They had to change my BC Pill and that actualy even helped the pain I was still getting on my left ovary. I am going for another Transvaginal in 2 weeks and I am seeing a Endocrinologist on monday.
The thing is symptoms can mock other diseases. Try to take a DEEP BREATH and relax. Believe me, I am not saying that that cenario still doesn't enter my mind regarding my condition, but I have to have faith in my doc!! You need to talk we are here!!!!

I did have the transvaginal not the ca-125. It was via the ultra sound that they ruled out ovarian cancer. They did not see any masses. I still don't have any idea what is causing all the pain. I am scheduled for a CT scan in tomorrow morning. We will see. At this time I think I might have 2 or 3 separate things going on. The doc says all the symptoms dont really tie together.

Good luck with your CT Scan. I had one done also and it came back normal.
Let me know what happens.
Exactly what is your symptoms?? Are you also on the Birth Controll Pill ?? If so, which one??
The strange thing with me is after the 6cm cyst went away on my left ovary, then there was a cluster of small cysts and then that went away I still; had pain. My OB thought there might be something else going on. I saw a Gastro Doc and he ran a series of Gastro tests on me and it came back all normal. Yet I was still in pain on ny left side. He put me on NuLev for IBS. It didn't do a thing for me. Then I got the 7cm cyst on my right ovary. They switched my BC Pill and after about 2 weeks the pain on my left side got better !! I think I have an ovary problem. That is why I was still in pain on my left side. It is weird. But the new BC Pill seemed to of helped. I should know more about my 7cm cyst soon.
