I currently take ritalin. I have never taken adderall. Just out of curiosity's sake, has anyone taken both? Did you prefer one over the other? Did you dislike one or get reults with one and not the other. I have taken ritalin for a few months now and am pleased with it.

Thanks

I would stay on Ritalin as long as it helps and you don't have any major problems. Adderall is more controlling. Since Ritalin is not an amphetamine there is generally no withdrawal problems. Adderall is an amphetamine so it can cause withdrawal (addiction) problems.

I took Ritalin for a few years, and it worked wonders for my ADHD. I was also on Dexedrine at one point, and that didn't work out to well, so I was med free for a few years. Now, I'm on Adderall XR because the psychiatrist is scared of my past substance abuse problem.

Hi!

I've taken both. I first began with Ritalin and after a few years when its effectiveness wore off, I switched over to Adderall. For the most part, I've been pretty happy with Adderall. However, there was a period of about a week that I was waiting to get in to see my dr for a prescription and I had no meds. I went through a mild withdrawal period that just gave me a headache and made me want to sleep, sleep, and sleep some more. Both are good but it's just a matter of finding what works for you and in what dose.

Good Luck!
