I have bony pain in my knees which sometimes shows up in the long bones of my legs. What could be causing this? When I did a search in google for "bony pain" 9 out of 10 links were cancer-related.

What else can cause "bony pain"?

Lots of things can cause bony pain:

first of all, how old are you? do you have any other health conditions? are you on any medicatons?

Bony pain can be caused by old injuries, increased bone turnover, low blood calcium etc.

The other thing is, what do you mean by bony pain? That is a very specific term which refers to a deep, gnawing pain felt in the bone which is often worse at night. Does this describe your pain? Or is your pain more of a deep muscle pain?

I just got an answer from someone else that posted on another board. She said it could be arthritis. That's just odd. For one thing I am 31. It's not impossible to have arthritis at that age I suppose....

For another thing the bony pain started soon after I started taking different mineral /vitamin supplements including calcium, magnesium, manganese, and Vitamin D, among others.

I'm taking seroquel and metformin.

It's not muscle pain. It travels along the long bone from my knee up to my thigh, and sometimes below the knee too. I also feel it in my ankle bone. Actually it's not really that painful, nor does it get worse at night, but it does stick around all day. It feels kind of twingy.

Actually, since it is worse in my kneecaps, maybe it is arthritis....
