hello everyone.

i'm new to this board...usually spend most of my time on the back pain board. i just have a couple of questions about fibro.

i am 28 years old and just had a fusion done on my back this past summer. everything has been going well until this weekend. i woke up and underneath my chin and the sides of my face were swollen. plus my skin hurt to touch...even clothes touching it. i felt like someone had beat me with a baseball bat. the swelling has gone down some but i still ache all over. does anyone know what i am talking about? i have also been having anxiety attacks over the past couple of weeks. can anyone give me some insight?

thanks in advance!

You should speak to your doctor. You would need to see a rheumatologist for a fibro diagnosis. Your symptoms do sound like FM, but also like a lot of other things. Mine started with my back problems as well. You could also look on the internet (do a search for fibromyalgia) and see if what they are talking about sounds like you. The first time I saw anything written about fibro, my jaw dropped to the floor, it was like reading about me!

Good Luck!

HI, I'm just like you who started with a really bad back pain. I felt like someone beat me with a baseball bat too. It all started with my visit to a chiropractor. I thought it will help my stiff neck problem I've had for several years. The chiropractic adjustments gave me more than enough pain for a life time. I regret it so much for even going there. I'm so depressed to think about dealing with this pain for the rest of my life. Anyway, he ended up tearing my back muscle, and I also have herniated discs in my neck and back. When I went to see my family doc, he did a bunch of blood tests, MRIs, etc., - finally in the end, he told me I have FM. I'm so new at this. I'm doing as much research as I can on it. Your doctor can run some tests and figure out what's triggering all that pain. I hope you feel better soon.
