I am a little confused, I had an abnormal pap come back a while back. Had the procedure done where they go up there and take a sample. To make a long story short, my doctor told me that I had mild dysplasia, and that He was going to perform the cyrosurgery, which is the freezing of the cells. I had that done and it went fine. I asked about knowing if all the cells were froze and he told me that there is no absolute way of knowing if he got them all at that exact moment. He said that I would come back in 3 months for another pap and we would see then, I asked him if it didn't get all the cells would it get worse over the next 3 months. He told me to stop worrying, that I was going to be fine. He said it will not turn into Cancer over night and that it's not even close to being cancer. He never said anything about margins or anything, he didn't and hasn't seemed too concerned about, should I???

get a copy of your info and all work/labs. you probably had the most minor/low grade abnormality. but he should have explained it all to you!

HI

Ask for the reports. There should have been clear margins. Grrrr. Doctors need to explain results fully, and we DO have a right to all of our records.

Good luck

don't worry

I am soory you had a Dr. that did not explain things to you. I searched alot on the internet and sometimes if you have a mild case of dysplasia it can correct itself. But you still need to keep an check on it. I had a loop cone in July and by doing that they were able to check both ends of the sample. one end had abnormal cells and the other end had normal cells. (they think they got it all) I went for my 3-4 month check up last week and got the results today and everything is normal. For my case I have to be checked every 3-4 months for the next year and every 6 months for the next 2 years after that. My dysplasia was server. Read all the information you can get your hand on make a list of questions and when you go in for the post check ask and ask until you get the answer you needs. Dr.'s need to talk to their pateints like they would want there mothers. fathers, daughters , sons dr.'s talk to them. Good Luck
