hi,
this is sort of a story and sort of a 'help'!
From the beginning -
- i had an abnormal smear and a colposcopy about 5 or 6 years ago then everything was okay
- i didn't have a smear for several years, when i did it was 'normal', but as i mentioned i bled ONCE after sex, the doctor suggested a colposcopy
- colposcopy led to a biopsy which showed low grade dysplasia
- doctor did a LEEP (even though only low-grade) which freaked me out as they took a centimetre ....
- the results of the LEEP showed I in fact had high-grade changes, but margins were clear so it was all out
- a follow-up smear and colposcopy last week (5 months later) where more abnormalities were found and yet another biopsy ... waiting for results
at every single stage, things have been worse than expected - and 5 months later it's back!! i thought the chances were like 5% or something. ANd to have a low-grade turn out to be high grade! that totally eased my worries and unease about having what i thought was probably unnecessary surgery.
Ah well.
i'm just stressed by it all, i know that rationally all will be okay even if it means a leep every couple of years until all my cervix is gone (?!) because this can be stopped/removed in time .. but emotionally it's hard. and you all probably know that, so i'm not sure of the purpose of this post. Except to say my love and thoughts to all of you and yay for the internet allowing this kind of international support!!
this is sort of a story and sort of a 'help'!

Well they did say there is a vaccine in the words but probably not in your doctors office until 2007. Why did he do a leep on low grade? So the colops show it was high when the pap showed it was low? That's odd but they do say that colops so the real deal.

well the pap itself was clear - but i had a colposcopy nevertheless because of the bleeding. the colpo biopsy said low grade ... im not sure why they decided to do a leep as i didnt realise until afterwards that they dont usually do them for lowgrade - when i found out it made me feel even more butchered!! but it was only the Leep which revealed i had high grade!! either it developed very fast or something was very wrong.
from a normal smear to high grade dysplasia.
bring on the vaccine!!!
