Hi all,

Could anyone tell me whether the above dosage is alot??
In the last year i have taken 25mg Atenolol, 50mg Atenolol, 2mg Coversyl and now i have been increased to 4mg of Coversyl. With all these meds i seem to reach an optimum value for me of around 139/81ish and no matter whether the dose is increased i can not seem to get lower. I am of the opinion that if i must take tablets i want readings around 120/80. My doc is of the same opinion except she is happy with 130/80 for me.

Any views would be appreciated.

The "usual starting dose" for Coversyl is 4 mg. This can then be adjusted to 8 mg as needed. So, the 2 mg you were on was a low dose.

Also, is that 139/81 from a doctor's office? If so, your BP may indeed be well under 120/80 already.

I monitor my readings at home and these are the readings. In the docs office i usually am way above theses readings but by the third one she takes there is very little difference between there and at home.

Never been close to a reading of 120/80 at home or at the docs.
