Hi,

I've had Grand Mal seizures on and off for the last 12 years or so, but have only recently sought medical assistance. I've been prescribed Tegretol, and I wanted to know how other people are coping on it and what side effects they've experienced. If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks guys
Tam

Hey Tam,

I used to take Tegretol. I didn't have many side effects, except for drowsiness and increased appetite (I ate anything in sight basically :) )
Anyway, I'm glad you finally got medical attention. It may make life much easier for you.

I've been on tegretol for at least 16 years. I've never really noticed any side effects. But then again it's been so long I honestly can't remember what it was like to not be on medication! If anything...probably sleepiness.

Hi I was on Tegretol for close to 3 years and it was NOT a very godo drug at all.

There are considerably better ones out there to controm TCs.

I got all toxic from it, my liver swelled up, got inflammed, and as painful. It created terrible vision problems, I gained almost 40 pounds from it, it caused chronic insomnia, made my seizuers worse etc.

There are more efects, but I wouldn't recommend it to others, jsut to be on the safe side.

Nancy

Get back to me if you want to nkow more drugs, I have to get off of the computer for now.

hi Tam,
i have been on tegretol for 20 years and can honestly say the only downfal i find with it is, my memory! i find i forget where i put things and this is the only problem i have with it.
i have been seizure free for 13 years now, after they got my dosage all worked out and i have regular blood test to make sure the level is the same.i wish u luck on it, it certainly changed mine after all the medication they tried with me to stabilise my epilepsy, and u know what i never thought i would b able to drive and i have been for the last 6 years, so lots of luck darling xx
