I have tried for years to lose weight and nothing ever works. I don't have a metobolic problem, I just cannot stop eating the wrong foods. I am an emotional eater, and I binge on foods a lot. I have tried eating reduced calories, and everything but I don't lose weight. Because I always quit it. I do treadmil for an hour speedwalking ...and I still do. Before I did that and ate only 1400 calories a day, and a month went by and I lost nothing. It is gettign harder to exersise because I want to go outside and do it but it is so cold out. I am so sick of this. All I want to do is lose weight. But HOW?! I am a vegitarian and that is a big problem because meat is good for you and can help you lose weight, only I don't eat meat. I eat a lot of yogurt and veggie boxed meals. I am so sick of this. I have been obsessing over losing weight for years and it never works!

You can lose weight, do not give up on yourself. You deserve to be healthy and happy, no matter what weight it is you can achieve those feelings at.
If you struggle with doing it on your own, have you tried to meet with a nutritionist? Not a Jenny Craig type (although some of them are really wonderful people like my sis) but an actual medically trained nutritionist? Or work with a trainer at the gym to maximize/learn about what might work best for you?
I can't lose weight at 1,300 calories a day unless I'm skiing or mountain biking on a daily basis, but I have very sluggish metabolism and some thyroid issues. Have you had a full blood work up to determine if there's an actual physical medical reason contributing to your weight?
If you are an emotional binge eater, perhaps talking to a counselor/therapist might also help give you ways to more productively focus your energy?

Maybe a big part of the problem is that you're not getting enough protein. Even if it means having low-calorie protein shakes or something. Most women don't get enough protein as it is - with you not eating meat I'm sure that's an even bigger issue.

I agree with Holly, I was thinking the same thing.
Do you get any protein at all?

Well, I am not sure what protein is in. I have fish occasionally and thats the only thing I can think of with protein in it. I should look it up and see what foods have protein in it. I am around 145 pounds I would day and 5 foot 3. So I have a way to go until my goal weight. I just started a diet today of 1400 calories maximun...but of course I went over to 1500 calories. But I will just have to keep trying.

Protein sources include meat, beans/legumes, nuts, cereals and grains, soy products, dairy products (eggs, milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.), seeds (sesame, sunflower, etc.), fish and most seafood, canned tuna and salmon, and some vegetables.

Hey! Wow I am in the exact same position. A couple of years ago I changed my wating habits to eat more healthy. Over a long period I unintentionally lost about 15 pounds. I was at a great weight but then a couple of years later lots of stress and bingeing led me to gain about 25 pounds. I hate myself for letting that happen. I am so upset over it. I've been trying for so long to cut my calorie intake to 1400 and I do well for 3 days but then I binge. i just want to lose weight so badly. I also try and exercise as much as possible... but I'm not losing :( I am so upset over it and its on my mind all the time! At least I am not the only one going through this.

you CAN lose weight! if i lost 72.5 pounds ANYBODY can do it! i definitely didn't do it the healthy way, i'm anorexic now, but not when i first started losing weight. so don't worry you will lose weight. you just have to REALLY REALLY want it. i don't doubt that you want it, but find something else to do when you're upset. i was a "bored eater". hope this helps!
