View Full Version : Hard stools?

I am having normal BMs like I usually do (once or twice a day), but for the past two days I have noticed that my stools are harder and bigger. It hurts to pass them and sometimes I find a little bit of blood in the stool/toilet paper. But like I said, I am having normal BMs; they just hurt. I think I eat plenty of fiber: I have shredded wheat in the morning, wheat bread at lunch, and rice with beans in the evening, every day. I eat fruits and vegetables every day also. However I think I could be drinking more water. What could the problem be?

Your problem is constipation when the stools are hard like that. You need to start with a fiber supplement like metamucil once or twice a day. As for your fiber intake be sure the fruits and veggies are fresh not processed and you may want to add prunes or pune juice to your daily routine. Also increase your water and fluid intake.

It definitely sounds as if you have not got the balance between fiber and water right. Cut back on the fiber or drink plenty more water until you get the balance right. You may think you are getting enough water except you don't realise how much more you should be drinking with all the fiber you are taking. Fiber turns to rock without ennought water.
