Hello, my name is Christie and I'm new here. I have been coloring my hair well touching up the roots actually for about 8 years. My natural color is a medium brown and I do high lift color to a pale blonde. From time to time I have some breakage. Sometimes it's bad and sometimes only slight. I am guessing that this may be from accidental overlapping of color since it is always in the back. What do you think? I really love my hair this color but I really can't afford to go have it done. In every other way its perfect. The color suits my skintone. It is a great look except the breakage I get. Is there anything I can do to prevent this overlapping or whatever is causing the breakage when I color? Also what products should I be using and can I get anything that will put my hair in better shape right now? If anyone has any answers or advice I would really appreciate it.

For hair breakage you can try protein. You can buy it at Sally's. You can also try some natural oils such as emu or jojoba. You can't repair damage you have already done, but you can prevent it. Don't brush or wash your hair too often and get a micro trim every four to six weeks. You can also try sulfate free shampoo's like Giovanni.

Thanks Allyssa! Where could I buy the oils you described and the Giovanni shampoo?

I have the same problem with my hair. Every six weeks you can do an Aphogee treatment. You get that at Sally's. Be sure not to touch your hair with this on because your hair can break off. Use a hair dryer to apply heat to the Aphogee but do not use high speed. You don't want your hair to move with the Aphogee on it just to make sure there is no breakage. The Aphogee will get rock hard so don't get scared. Follow this with a deep conditioner with heat for 30 minutes or so. Between Aphogee treatments you can do a treatment like Nexxus Emergencee once a week with heat and follow that
with a deep conditioner with heat. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove any buildup from products. I usually use the clarifying shampoo and then I do my treatments. Don't use a conditoner before you do the treatments but make sure to do a deep condition afterwards. Sally's has a good cheap deep conditioner called L'Oreal Natures Therapy. You can always get a good high end deep conditioner if you prefer. Once your hair is in better shape, you can cut back the Emergencee to every 2 weeks. HTH

Forgot to mention...there is also a product with the Aphogee that you can get. You put this on after your protein treatment to restore the ph balance in your hair. Anyway, it's Aphogee PH Balancer.

You can get the shampoo and oils at a natural food's store or online (do a google search). Rosemary oil is another good one to use. You can leave a small amount in your hair as a leave in conditioner. Also, try to take a supplement such as biotin. As Kristielynn said, the treatment is from Aphogee and you can buy it at Sally's. The protein treatment smells really bad, but it is worth it. Also at Sally's is Loreal Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture. This stuff is great!!!

Another thing that makes some difference....If you blowdry on a regular basis like I do, make sure to use a heat protectant like BTZ Turn Up the Heat. Dry your hair at least 80% dry before you ever put a brush into your hair. I used to section my hair off when it was soaking wet and use a round brush to blowdry and it was horrible for my hair. Now I dry it until it's barely damp and then section off and use a round brush to finish the drying process. Since I've started using the protein and drying my hair this way I've noticed a lot less breakage. Every little thing you can do makes a difference!

Well this is something that has been suggested to me. I haven't tried it yet but in a way it makes sense. Try getting some xtra virgin olive oil and when you wash and condition your hair rubb about a tablespoon in your hands and distrbute around the roots. I would distribute it throughout myself. In fact will try it next time i wash my hair. Also have yopu been under stress? That causes hair loss, also certain medications can cause hair loss too. Try also to take som,e vitamins for hair, skin and nails does wonders made my hair and nails grow very fast and made nails tougher then heck of course i was also using sally hansons nail hardener with diamonds in it. GOOD STUFF!!!!! Good luck :bouncing:
