Hello everybody;
I have been diagnosed with hypertension lately, i am currently on medication. I have a controled BP of 135/80.
I had been twice at the doctor's clinic and I have noticed that he always checks physically my ankle and my neck?
Does anybody know why he does that?
thank you

He is probably checking your neck for your pulse. Your ankle is an unusual one. I would speculate that he would want to see if there is swelling. Unless you complained about any symptoms it really makes no sense. He or She can find out a lot just by normal blood tests.

He sounds like a good thorough doctor actually. He's checking your neck to evaluate your lymph nodes, thyroid gland and the blood vessels of the neck including the vertebral and carotid arteries.

Reagrding the ankle, as AXE said, he was looking for any swelling (edema), but he was also checking the pulse there for any arterial/vascular or venous insufficiency (basically to evaluate if there are any circulation problems).

zuzu is right. Hubby's cardio man, and my dr. always check the ankles for circulation. Your dr. sounds quite thorough, hold on to him... :)
