My dr. just prescribed this for me after the amitritylene side effects were too much to handle. Has anyone else taken this, how did it work for you, and is there anything I should know about?? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I take it at night to help with my insomnia. It works most of the time. I don't have any side effects from it like I did with amitritylene which made me shaky and hyper. I also don't have that drugged feeling when I wake up like ambien sometimes give you. Don't know about other people but it works for me.

hello-I take trazadone for the fibro it helps with the neuralgia and the insomnia!! I too was on a tricyclic-nortripyline-they took me off it to put me on trazadone-I think I feel the same-they both do the same thing-its just that the trazodone is safer-not to worry-this is a good one!

Thanks for the replies. My doctor told me to only start on 25 mg because of the way the amitriptylene affected me. I took it last night for the 1st time and it was about 2 hrs. before I fell asleep. I tossed and turned most of the night, not falling into a deep sleep. I then had trouble getting up this morning (er, um, afternoon). Now that I am up, showered and moving about, I feel better but still very tired. Anyone else experience this, or is my dosage probably too low?

hey kc-I take 50mg each night-I'm prescribed 100 but I try to take as little meds as I possibly can.it sounds like he is getting you adjusted-I started off with 25 as well-on your next visit ask him to increase it because it sounds like it may be too low-after a few days of taking it if its still the same take 2 a little before bed and see what happens.as far as the sleepiness in the morning-expect it :( it is one annoying side effect but the benefits from it far outweigh the seepiness-if its really bad-take it earlier-as early as you can and just go to bed when you cant stay up anymore-the more you can sleep it off-the better you'll feel in the morning and it will lessen as you get more used to it..good luck and if you have any more q's just ask!! good luck!!
naq..:)
