Sorry everyone - just had to toot my own horn - tomorrow is Day #90 of NO SMOKES!!! :bouncing: After 23 years (probably more than that really) of smoking 2 packs plus per day - I believe myself to be a NON SMOKER! It's still hard for me to believe.
For those of you who are thinking about quitting - let me assure you that it IS mostly MENTAL. The first week is the worst and from day #7 on it gets easier and easier! You just have to WANT to do it!!! If I can do it - so can you. I loved cigarettes!!! Now I can't stand the smell of them! It totally blows me away when I realize that I have actually gone 90 days without a cigarette.
Take Care....Scarlett :bouncing:

Way to go Scarlett! :) You have every reason to toot your horn! We all like to toot our horns every now and then, and we have every reason to! It a big thing, this quitting smoking... whoo-hoo..I quit too! And you are so right, it IS a mental thing, for the most part. Don't ever give back in, you are doing great, girl.

I was wondering if I could ask you some questions for a health project......I won't use any form of identification if you choose to answer my questions:
1 did you smoke as a teenager?
2 why did you start?
3 how did it make you feel?
4 do you regret your decision to start?
5 did it make you feel cool or special while doing it?
if you could answer these questions by tonight or tomorrow morning if you get this, and feel free to add any other comments about your smoking experiences...thanks a lot....congrats of your 90th day!!

#1 - YES!
#2 - EVERYONE DID IT - I WANTED TO BE COOL - Looking back to the 70's if you watch movies - every movie star smoked on screen.
#3 - I thought when I was young it made me feel "sexy" as I grew older smoking became my friend - cigarettes were always there - in the good times and especially in the bad stressful times.
#4 - I didn't start to regret my decision of starting until about 3-4 years ago when I started getting bronchitis - not once a year as I usually did - but it became almost constant - every 2-3 months I was getting a bad case of the junk.
#5 - I think in the beginning it was to be "in" the group so to speak and to be cool. Then it became a nasty habit.
People smoke for various reasons - some people are brought up thinking it's the thing to do - mom and dad - grandma - grandpa smoke so they naturally smoke. It's just something you do. Sometimes it's to fit in the crowd at first then next thing you know you can't put them down. I didn't think I'd ever be able to put them down. Thank God I have been able to do it this long. Let me know if you want more info. Take Care and best of luck on your project! Scarlett
