Are there any out there that can be bought over the counter that are proven to work without upsetting the system?

Good old yogurt with live active cultures works well and so does acidophillis capsules or the sprinkles. You can by any of those in the drug section of your stores.

Samuelemouse,
There are many OTC remedies that are antifungal as well as candida killers.

Caprilic acid is sold in a delayed action form --Capystatin and in a sustained release form -- Caprinex and Capricin.

Garlic also inhibits bacteria grow a Good brand is Garlinase from Enzymatic Therapy.

Aloe vera juice ---kills yeast by boosting the white cells abilities!!!

Pau d'arco capsules and tea, clove tea, and maitake tea --- all contain anti-fungal agents.

Kolorex that is a patented herb from New Zealand is GOOD.

Candida Forte from Nature's Plus is good for mild candida overgrowth.

As you may know Candida thrives on sugary food ---so you need to cut out the things that contains sugar including most fruit and simple carbohydrates that are readily converted to sugar in your mouth. This cuts off the candida food supply and should be used in any anti-candida program.

I have read that calcium is usually lacking in those that have Candidiais and magnesium is needed for calicium absorption along with vitamin D.

And, of course you have to recolonize your intestinal tract with the friendly bacteria as migables suggested. But, I have found that because I don't go on a very strict anti-candida diet --yogurt and probiotic supplements just don't eliminate the candida overgrowth for me--- I eat ice cream and sometimes cookies--- not good for candida.

People that take anti-acids and Proton Pump Inhibiters cause there to be less acid in their stomachs resulting in fungi growth. Regular acids or higher acid in the stomach inhibits bacteria growth.

I wish you well---Harry

Thanks Mgable. But yoghurt would kill me (lactose intolerant).

Thanks also Harry. Garlic would kill my friends. Does Kolorex really work? I am afraid of taking something new that could be toxic or have unforeseen side-effects, given that there is not much regulation of the industry.

Samuele,

People that are lactose intolerant are usually able to eat yogurt. The 2 bacteri that it takes to make all brands of yogurt -- DIGEST the lactose ---making it basically lastose free. Additional active live cultures are added to the yogurt. The best brands with many strains of active live bacteria are sold at health food stores. You should try a good brand!!!

I use Kolorex and I have not had any side effects. It works!!!

There are many odorless garlic pills on the market that work!!! The one I recommened is One of the best.

Ditto. Lactose intolerant folks are indeed able to digest yogurt. It actually helps to repair the lactointolerant state over a long period of time.
You begin slow and take the cues from your gut.

I have just starting taking Candex...I do not know if it will work...(I don't know that yeast is the problem for sure) But I read a lot of good things about Candex. It needs to be used with the sugar-free diet though. Maybe give it a try?!

munter,
Garlic has anti-candida properties but it is not as good as Caprylic acid or Kolorex. Both should be readily available to you.

The anti candida diet basically cuts out all sugary foods and simple carbs. You have to eat alot of veggies and meat, poultry, fish, eggs. Most fruits have a high sugar content. You can limit your complex carbohydrates. Candida thrives on sugar.

You could not kill all the candida in your body anyway--- you just want to get it under CONTROL. Cutting out the candida food supply is a BIG step and the diet is very hard to stick to!!!

hows it goin man? do u have any idea where i can buy these caprylic and kolorex tablets? do i have to get a doc to prescibe the to me or can i go to a health store and buy these?

also do u think this is candida?
ok this might sound bad (it is!). it feels like my anal hole is always moist, like wet, its like a clear substance. i also have a bad odor like a poo smell, not good at all, which i know it has something to do with this problem, it gets much worse when i do exercise which drives me crazy cos i am very active and my job is a very active job too, i am never sittin down. my upper stomach gets really bloated after i eat, not matter how much or how little. also i got olsores at the back of my tongue, which is a indication i have a yeast infection isn't it?

also i don't think it is ibs cos i don't get a sore stomach, i don't get lots of gas, i don't have problems goin to the toilet and i don;t get the splats.

so what do u reckon? i am 18 years old and this problem is really drivin me crazy.

i have found that these garlic tablets have been controlin it for half the day. for example i take 1 tablet in the morning before i go to work and it keeps it under control until about lunch time, then it comes back, but as soon as i have another tablet it goes away amost striaght away. so i reckon? i think it could be a yeast infection or this candida which is outta control.

munter,
Both remedies over the counter remedies that you can buy online or at some health food stores.

Kolorex is produced in Nelson,New Zealand so I thought it would be readily available to you. You can look it up online and they have a web site. I have used it and it's very good!!! One of the better ones I have used.

The bloating after eating is an indication that your intestinal bacteria is not in balance. Along with the anti-fungal remedy --- eat yogurt and take a probiotic supplement to help re-establish your friendly bacteria.
Usually candida/ yeast infection in the mouth shows up as white spots and not sores ---at least in my mouth--- it's called Thrush.
