im going to the doctors on thursday about another reason, but im also going to mention my very irregular periods (21-41 days), im going to say that i want to see about going on the pill. What do you think the chances of her putting me on the pill are, it really will make a difference to me if she does thats why im asking.thanks in advance

if its your request then she'll put you on it. I was having irregular periods like sometimes twice a month. I never made it 28days. And i was a real heavy bleeder with extremely bad cramps. The pill made it so i have that regular period, the blood flow is a bit less, and the cramps arent really a problem anymore!
Also, when I started, my doctor gave be like 3months worth one brand (samples) to try it out, then i was able to go back, tell her what i thought and so on. i was able to try a couple different pills w/samples. so run that by your doctor it'll save ya some money, unless you have good insurance! good luck!

I'm sure she'll be willing to prescribe it. But I also think its a great idea to be tested to see what is causing the irregular periods. You don't want the underlying problem to get worse and then possible affect your fertility. Many times it can be treated without the pill. And while the pill is safe for most people, it can cause serious side effects, and then there are the less serious annoying side effects. Personally, I can't wait until I have surgery so I can get off it :)

I was recently put on the pill (Yasmin)to help relieve perimenopausal symptoms. I was so nauseated it was like being pregnant again. My mom said that when she went through menopause she had periods similar to yours for awhile before they completely stopped. Are you menopausal age?

Many times OB/GYNs encourage the use of the pill. It helps with cramps, bloating, heavy flow, and predictability. I was asked if I wanted to go on it before I ever even thought of it. And if you ask her to prescribe it, there's no reason in the world, if you're healthy and normal, that she won't be happy to do so.
Good luck.
