PLEASE HELP ME if you can, by answering this question. I am supposed to start taking Yasmin today. I am scheduled for a gyn test (colposcopy) on the 13th of December. Today is (hopefully) the last day of my period.
My question is this:
If I take Yasmin beginning today, won't I start my next period on the 13th? That would be the second day of the sugar pills). What if I take the pills starting, let's say...on a Wednesday instead of Sunday? Why do the drs tell you to start taking the pill on Sunday, anyway? :confused:
OK...so that was more than one question. Does anyone have a suggestion? If I wait until tomorrow and call the dr AGAIN (I've called her 50 times to talk about the pill and the upcoming test) I'm going to be driving her nuts--if she even gets on the phone at all.
Any suggestions are appreciated. I've even seen where women on the boards have taken two packs of pills back-to-back. I could do that, too, if need be. This appointment date was hard to come by and I do NOT want to have to postpone it because I get my period.

They tell you to start on Sunday to hopefully avoid weekend periods. Sometimes skipping a pack doesn't work. You could just take an extra pill or two from an extra pack to delay your period a couple of days and still stay on track, just shorten the number of days you take the placebo pills. I find it convenient to have an extra pack lying around anyways in case I drop a pill or whatever.

Dr told me that they tell you to start on Sunday because it was designed by men who were hoping women wouldn't have periods on weekends.

Everyone I know (inlcluding me) who did the sunday start got their periods on WEDNESDAY and still had it up until sunday.

I now take my pill starting Friday, and always get my period on a monday, ending on friday.

You can pick the day, as long as you follow instructions for the Sunday start and not the first day of your period start. your body has no idea what day of the week it is...

LOL. I agree :) I quickly changed to a Friday start too!
Sadiwest: the only important thing is to take it the first 7 days of your period if you are using it for birth control.
