I happen to think that food rules are more of a cause than a cure. Anybody agree with me? Maybe if a few of us list some rules we've imposed on ourselves, and then see it in print, we'll see how ridiculous food rules can be. Anybody want to admit their food rules? Here are a few that I don't have any more:
1. Only go off the diet when I eat out
2. I cannot eat before 10 in the morning
3. I must not eat after 6 pm
4. If I gain a pound, I have to go back to a strict non-fat diet
5. I must never overeat in public (which will somehow reduce my overeating? NOT!)
6. I can only weigh myself on Saturdays, and always on an empty stomach

Oh good, Someone who isn't a drill sergent on themselves. Congrats for being one of few who have seen the light on stupid self imposed rules that don't help.
My Rules were:
1. Exercise everyday (with this riduculous routine I came up with)
2. Only Drink water...that lasted about an hour.
3. No junk food at all...chocoholic cringe at this one.
By the way, what was the reason you couldn't eat before 10 am?
