Valerian is just the supplement. In addition to using Valerian, you should try to exercise regulary, eat the healthy food, and taking multi-vitamines. Please do not take valerian regulary but only twice a week instead. I used to take Valerian pills before and it only work if don't take it everyday. If you take it everyday, your body will get used to this drug.
You can also try to watch some soft music videos at night; it helps your body to calm down. In addition to that, you should get rid of your personal issues before you go to bed. Try to allow yourself to relax for about 2 hours before your bedtime.
Take care..

Sorry, i was trying to mention about MELATONIN, not valerian in my previous email. Melatonin works much better than valerian. You should try to take melatonin about twice a week, do not take it regulary.

2 capsules of = Valerian Root Extract 200 mg., Hops Extract 100mg., Passion Flower Extract 100 mg., and Catnip Extract 100 mg.
is what I take -- has worked wonders for me :)

I would try both valerian and melatonin but neither helped me, so they dont work for everyone
make sure you get good quality products, there are said to be poor quality ones around
