Hello Everyone

I just got my report faxed to me today of my sleep study. Here is some of the report.
Sleep Parameters:
The patient was snoring loudly during the night. There were 52 sleep disordered breathing events noted, consisting of a combination of obstructive apneas and hypopneas. The overall apnea\hypopnea was 18 per hour of sleep. The baseline oxygen saturation is 96%. Average low during sleep was 91%. The patient's sleep disordered breathing was associated with a mild degree of oxygen desaturation with each disordered breathing event.
Impressions/Diagnosis:
This study reveals evidence of mild obstructive sleep apnea, which is significantly worse during REM sleep.
Recommendation:
1. Avoid driving, operating heavy equipment or engaging in dangerous activities requiring sustained alertness.
2. Avoid sedative drugs and alcohol, which suppress alertness and enhance obstructive sleep apnea.
3. CPAP titration study.

All along I have thought their was a chance that I might have apnea. My husband has really complained about my snoring. But I have been so tired these days. I have read a few posts on these boards tonight. I am most worried about the cpap machine. My reason for posting my report is to see if anyone would give me their input on the report. It does state that I have a mild case of sleep apnea. I was thinking that perhaps I won't need to use the machine every night. Well, actually I was wishing..... I do have a follow up appointment in about a week to discuss the results of this report with my doctor. I just wanted to prepare myself before the appointment. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Small amount of post operative fluid collection at level L4 which does not appear to communicate with the thecal sac.
Encasement of the thecal sac at L4-5 level by enchancing soft tissue, consistent with epidural fibrosis.
Displacement of the left S1 nerve root, consistent with epidural fibrosis.

CPAP stands for Constant Positive Airway Pressure.Basically a lightweight sleeping apparatus that goes over your nose and blows air into it and throat through a nosepiece connected to a small powered blow machine with a small 3/4 inch tube.I called it the Hannable Lecter model
