sk11 11-24-2004, 12:56 PM Ayone have chemcial eye burn before? illusions 11-27-2004, 10:44 PM I have had a chemical burn on my eyes before. My burns were caused by too much chlorine in a swimming pool. My eyes just burned super bad and they were like bloodshot red. I went to the hospital (with five other girls who got it too) and they just flushed my eyes out with saline solution. Everyone else's eyes felt better the next day but mine didn't. I ended up going to the hospital two more times because they were burning and I couldn't see properly. I had to go as far as seeing an opthamologist (eye specialist). About three weeks later, I could finally see better; it was very stressful because I was still in high school and couldn't read the notes off of the overhead projector. I also got burns on my lips, my nose, under my eyes and my eyelids. It sucked to say the least!! Did you experience a chemical burn on your eye(s)? Illusions sk11 12-01-2004, 06:30 PM Hi Illusions, Thank you for responding. I had bleach burn too. But mine was while I wore my contacts. I didn't get it flushed it out right away and now I am in constant pain and worse:I have dry eyes. Doctors think I burnt the accessory tear glands located under eyelids which keeps making tears through the day (when you yawn you get tears from main tear gland tucked under the eye socket). Did you have problem with dry eyes also? What about light sensitivity? How long ago was this? I am sorry I am asking you so much question but I am so glad to talk to someone who had similar experience so that I can at least estimate how much damage I have incurred. Thanks so much. I hope you can repsond. jaderose 12-16-2004, 03:56 PM Hello, I am new to this board due to the fact this past saturday I burned my eye at work.I am a hairstylist and we have to sanitize our implements. while doing so I didn't realize we had a defective bottle. the solution sprayed up instead of down. UP into my left eye.I didn't immediatly flush but did do so twice at wok then went to emergancy care where they flushed for a half hour. Then had an emergancy visit same day w/opthimologist. He said I had a severe burn to my cornia. gave me some ointment. My eye hurts, is EXTREMELY light sensitive, itchy etc.. My Dr. said it was a good thing they (emergancy care facility) called him in other wise I would have severe problems. Good luck. Did they give you antibiotcs? sk11 12-20-2004, 08:58 PM Hi Jedrose, I am glad you are doing well. you will recover fast. Do you have any pain still? |
