Hello,
I have a situation that is getting worse by day. I have quit smoking 3 weeks ago.
It started 2 weeks ago, i felt a small lump just wher my vocal cord is. Started having breathing problems as this lump was getting bigger very quick. Saw the ear-neck-nose specialist and after inspecting my throat he suggested that it is just a reaction due to my gastro problems(which i always had since childhood) and suggested milanta /:(
As the lump grew, i began having ear ache gradually and constant tiredness. Saw my GP, he said my breathing is fine and now advised me for an x-ray which is due tomorrow.
Right now the situation is so bad that i have completely lost all hearing on my right ear which hurts a lot too and most of hearing in the left ear as well. Lump in my throat is so big now i have to struggle for a breath. Lungs are starting to hurt when i have deep breathe.
I am very anxious before tomorrow's x-ray. would anyone know if these are symptoms of throat or oral cancer? Ii am very scared and confused because medical practitioners i went to don't seem to be very helpful or trustworhy. I am advised by my GP now to see another specialist but if he is going to give me a wrongful advise again it will be now more than a thousand i spent on medical bills and yet not getting anywhere with the recovery.
By the rate that it is growing at, i feel like i just might suffocate in sleep anyday now.
Please if anyone has any suggestions.

Just a quick follow up,
Apart from smoking till 3 weeks ago, I live a rather healthy life style meaning i don't eat meat and eat mostly salads, i can have an occasional drink once a month or fortnight at most which would be a beer or two. I have not been vomiting or loosing any weight lately.
I excersize every day and walk from work.

HI

Do you feel an actual lump through the skin? Have they considered doing a cat scan?

It sounds like you might have a raging ear infection going on, though. Have they even checked your ears?

Good luck

Sorry to hear that your not feeling well. A lump on your throat/vocal cords just may be your thyroid. Ask for a ultrasound of the area, along with a full thyroid panel. Where is this lump located and how big would you say it is? Also did your xray show anything? There are a number of things that can happen in the neck area. Goiters, lumps, cysts, swollen lymph nodes, etc. And the fact that your having trouble breathing it needs to be diagnosed ASAP. CT or MRI may show something too. If need be go directly to your nearest ER room. You will get the tests etc you need right away vs waiting. Best of luck
