My husband says my body jerks when I sleep. Every now and then it jerks so bad that I even wake myself up. It feels like the bed just collapses and I hear this really loud noise. What may cause this??

This could be many things, most of them benign. It could be restless leg syndrome, which I have occasionally. It could be something called PLMS, periodic limb movements in sleep. Or it could be hypnic jerks. Are these the only symptoms you have? Also, how do you feel the next day? Is it affecting your sleep where you are tired the next day? If it's geting worse, you need to ask your doctor about it.

I recommend end you see a neurologist. It is not possible to diagnose what you may have over the internet.

Bummer is right. We could list lots of maybes, but it is best to talk to your doctor and see what is going on. A sleep study is one step to figuring this out.
Jerking can be a "normal" part of sleep, or it can be a host of other things...
Please call the doctor
