I am taking OTC for acne. I am not sure it is effective in controlling the acne. How long does it usually take to see results from taking the bcp? If not effective, what birth control is good for controlling acne?
Thanks

It takes 5 months (but I'll admit, if it makes my acne worse than it was to start with, I switch sooner :) I only stayed on OTC Lo a month and half.)
If OTC doesn't work for you, Yasmin and Desogen are both good for acne. And a non-birth control option for hormonal acne is spironolactone, which can lower your testosterone much more than the pill.

OTC is the only pill approved for treatment of acne, so of course it's effective. You aren't going to see results immediately. It's recommended that you wait a few months until the hormone levels are regulated before just giving up and moving on to another pill.
