Hi, I am 25 and gay. Just this past weekend, I did stuff with another guy who is probably high risk, which included mutual masturbation, and frottage. The guy was a heavy precummer, and I had broken skin on my hand and my penis went over his, when he probably had precum on it. That was Saturday morning. Tuesday afternoon, I started to notice a sore throat coming on, and Wednesday I was hit with a nasty flu, I still have the flu, and my tonsils have white spots all over them. Does this sound concerning? I am really stressed out and concerned. I've had no rash, nor swollen lymph nodes. I feel as if this is not good. :jester:

please don't think that you are alone in your fears of HIV. people come on here all the time with similar stories as yours, lose a lot of sleep and weight over it to find out that they are negtive. the only thing that i can tell you is 1st to get tested to ease your mind after it has been 90 days. also, the ARS infection is within 2-4 weeks, not a couple of days. you probably got a little cold. much easier to pass than HIV. speaking of that, HIV is NOT easy to get. most stats that you hear is a combination from around the world and in some parts the infection rate is out of control. but here in the US, there are only 40,000 new cases a year. out of the millions and millions of americans having some kind of unprotected sex, EVERYDAY, 40,000 is quite low. yes that number has more gay men than straight, but that is really, IMO, because of a lack of condom use. if you had unprotected anal sex with a positive person, the chance that you will become infected is 1/500. you did not have sex. HIV must go directly into the blood stream to have chance at infection, which your encounter, even with the broken skin, had a very slim chance to do. the only way to keep from feeling this way again is to use protection in any kind of sexual act, but so you know you should not worry over this as the risk was minimal, but a 90 day test will let you know for sure. best of luck to you.

Thank you for your response, it's calmed me down a little.
I went to doctor today to see if my symptoms were strep throat, she said possible, but looks more viral in nature, like a passing cold or flu, I hear the word virus, I get panicked. However, I read that white spots on tonsils is dead giveaway it is bacterial. They took a culture swab, so I'll get those results back on Friday. She said the timing is just way too quick to be ARS. I have three things in my favor I guess: 1. I had almost neglibible risk. 2. ARS hardly ever appears in three days, if it has ever, or not, not aware of reading that anywhere. 3. no swollen lymph nodes or rash. (and 4. that person might not even be positive, he is 22, just came out at 20, and odds are, he may be negative.) Thanks again Nyxin for your response. Wish me sanity and luck :jester:
