View Full Version : The Pill & Migraines...also Seasonale

Hi! I am new here! I'm 34 years old. I've been on the Pill for about 16 years. About two years ago I started getting very bad migraines the first two days of my period. I tried Orth Tricyclen Low but that did not help. So my doc put me on Seasonale. I took it for about two weeks and it gave me a bad rash on my legs and I had terrible headaches all day and nausea. I stopped taking Seasonale and a day later all these symptoms disappeared.

Is there any Pill I can take that will lessen the migraines? My hubby is thinking of having a vasectomy, as we do not want to have children. Will being off the pill help the migraines, or make them worse each month?

I am so frustrated and confused! I'm open to any advice.

Thanks!
Carrie

You could try an all progesterone (no estrogen) pill. Some women with migraine find their headaches either worsen or improve when they take oral contraceptives. You could talk to your doctor about your pill options and what will help you best. My best friend uses imitrex during her time of the month along with her BCP. She says the imitrex really works well. Take care!
