I got my results from my post-op MRI and EMG. I had c5c6fusion done on sept 13th. Since then I have been having burining in the tricep, chest, armpit, elbow and lats. My doc order these tests.

MRI-at c6c7 mild posterior disc bulging with small right posterlateral disc protrusion or small osteophyte creating anterolateral impression upon the thecal sac on the right.

EMG-Abnormal needle exam with chronic denervation in the c6 c7 innervated muscles in the left arm.

What do you all think? Do you think the burn is from the operation or from c6c7? I may have asked this before but please bear with me. Has anyone had burning the lats (the back muscle that attaches to the ribs) or chest burning where it attaches to the armpit?

I really thought the c5c6 operation was going to heal me.

I had a fusion at C5/6 at the end of Apr. I had not really had *neck* pain previous but have had numb fingers and a burning sensation in my left arm for more than 18 months now. After an ulnar nerve release made no change in those situations (actually the burning started after that surgery), they did the MRI and found the disc degeneration.

After the fusion, the burning moved further up my arm and I now have tingling from about mid way between arm pit and elbow all the way down to the palm (underside). Top that off with the burning spots at the back of my shoulder blade and the piercing pains that go in through the arm pit .

Two surgeries later I cant say I made any improvement. I suppose I prevented further damage but the pain level has increased significantly.

I had a Nerve conduciton test last week...not an EMG, just the electrode one. It shows normal. Doesnt surpise me, it showed normal when my fingers were contracted too and they found major nerve problems when they did surgery.

I'm not sure what causes it all for me, but I hope you have more luck finding answers than I have

kathy
