I have been on birth control for about 8 months and have been having a serious problem. When I first started taking BC, I was taking Orthocyclen and about a month after starting to take them, I began to lose interest in sex. I told my doctor about this problem, and she said that it was probably nothing to do w/the pill (I had just become sexually active and she blamed it on inexperience). However, she started me on Orthotricyclen. I have been on it for about4 months now, and not only am I still experiencing a disinterest in sex, now my periods are irratic and not long ago I had a period that lasted two weeks. What should I do???

Well, if I had to bet, I'd say loss of libido is the MOST common side effect of the pill. Switching pills might help the breakthrough bleeding problem.
