angelleye 05-23-2002, 01:45 AM I'm a 20 year old male who's recently discovered a small lump right next to my anus opening. it's uncomfortable and sore, yet not really itchy or terribly painful at the moment. i've just noticed it there for about a week now. i haven't had any troubles going to the bathroom...in fact it seems i'm going quite a lot now that it hurts to wipe! i'm thinking this is a hemroid yet i have no idea. i've never had them before...nor am i very knowledgeable about them. any information as to what this may be and how i can get rid of it would be greatly appreciated. please email me at angelleye@kc.rr.com with any information you could give. thanks!
Kamden 05-23-2002, 09:54 AM Try some preparation H and if that doesn't help it shrink or go away, then go to a doc. Hemroids usually itch.
Blippo 05-23-2002, 10:18 AM When I experienced one, I just didnt touch it for a week and it went down/away
angelleye 05-23-2002, 05:57 PM can i get prep h at any local medecine store? i'll have to try that not touching it thing...i keep messing with it. thanks for the info.
Blippo 05-23-2002, 06:04 PM Yes, you can get prep h it at your local drug store. I did the same as you, I kept touching/messing with it and it got worse. When I left it alone, it went away.
angelleye 05-23-2002, 09:00 PM thanks for the information. i'm going to do my best to not touch it. i have to though when i wipe after going to the bathroom. it's just right there...no way to not touch it...so hopefully that won't effect it too much. is prep h a cream that put on or what? just a pill? thanks!
Blippo 05-23-2002, 09:37 PM Prep h is a cream you put on.
Blippo 05-23-2002, 09:48 PM Let me add, the full name is Preparation H.
Goonner 09-04-2002, 01:41 PM i have just a few questions... i hvae had mine for a littlee lss then a week and as he did i touched it and it mad it worse, still not too bad really. i just applied some prep H and i plan to leave it alone. about how long will it take for it to shrink/ go away??
projapoti 07-24-2003, 04:07 PM Hemorrhoids are normal veins that are present in your rectal mucosa....sometimes though (either from liver disease or chronic straining while defecating or acutely when giving birth) these veins can enlarge and become really uncomfortable. Preparation H is a good thing to try if it is not that bad...take it and the pain/itchiness and burning should go away within 10 days. If it doesn't go away by then, go to the doctor. If they stay around too long, you can actually get a huge clot in the hemorrhoid vein which requires a minor operation to get out.
Ask any postpartum mother who has had a thrombosed hemorrhoid vein, and she will tell you that it is one of the most painful things; however, it is also one of the biggest reliefs you can have when getting the clot sliced out.
C.K.L 12-10-2003, 02:02 AM i think i have hemroids also, i noticed i had a small pimple-like lump right at the entrance of my butthole, right away i knew it could be hemroids because my dad had it and i kind of thought i was going to get it somehow. then i went online to figure out what hemroids really are and they said one of the causes are severe coughing, and i knew it was the coughing because i am sick right now and whenever i am sick, i cough like a maniac and it doesnt stop for a while. then lately i've been coughing so much constantly that my back started hurting (i guess that could be the straining everyone is talking about?) well as the days went by up until now i've noticed it got a little bigger and i am getting more worried by the minute. i finally told my mom and she reacted the way i knew she was going to react and started questioning me. i plan on seeing a doctor tomorrow and i really hope i will be ok and that this is nothing. please somebody who knows something about hemroids tell me that its ok and i have nothing to worry about! ( but you have to mean it too)
SydneyP 12-11-2003, 04:13 PM varicose veins and hemhorroids can be reduced by taking 'rutin' or eating a regular dose of buckwheat. (Pancakes, muffins, cereal, whatever.) They help strengthen the venal walls.
Some who were ready for surgery and started a dose of rutin reduced the hemhorroids to the point that no surgery was needed, nor any treatment.
It's certainly cheaper/less painful to try than the more drastic approaches.
Ryoko 12-29-2003, 08:22 PM Mine didn't hurt at first either but my butt is on fire now. If your lucky PH will help u. It stopped me from bleeding but they won't go away. 1 yr now. I'm only 24.
another_brick 07-29-2006, 02:00 AM I noticed what appears to be a hemroid today after doing manual labour for about 8 hours. All my work involded lifting things between 10 kilograms to about 100 kilograms, and the work was very repetitive. I am guessing the strain caused by the lifting caused the hemroid. I was wondering if an antibiotic ointment such as polysporin would help? Also i was wondering that once my hemroid is gone if i am at a higher risk for getting more hemroids, or if this means i am susceptible to them in the first place.
