Hi I have a few questions, I am a little scared right now....

I guess I drink quite a bit, much more than I should.....A few months ago I started to realize that occasionally after a night of drinking I would experience pain in my left kidney area. It didnt happen always but definitly noticed it from time to time. Basicly a dull ache right there at the left kidney spot....

Ok, last night I had a few friends over, and well to be honest, drank many beers.....I woke up this mourning with a slight hangover and not much else.....after a while I started to notice a dull pain where my liver is.....a few times throughout the day it turned into an almost sharp pain, later in the day my left kidney pain also joined in and I have been fairly miserable. It is now 12:10 am and its been about 24 hours since my last beer from the previous night and I still have this dull pain in my liver area, although it seem to be going away slowly. I am fairly freaked out about it......I dont think I will drink anymore. I have been drinking lots of water all day, and I also happen to have some milk thisle suppliments and have been taking them....Ive never noticed pain like this ever before.....My main problem right now is that I know I should have this checked out pronto......Funny thing is that I have paperwork sitting in front of me to get health insurance, but dont have it as of yet.

Also I have noticed that I have a rash on my face that comes and goes, I have had it for about 2 or 3 years.....looks exactly like the butterfly rash Lupis people get, however I am a guy and I gues Lupis is very rare for men to aquire. I feel so stupid too have waited so long to get insurance. I guess Its mainly just because I am only 32 and never thought Id get really sick at my age.

Should I just wait for my insurance to process and see the doctor in like a week or two? Or should I go now......I am just afraid that if they find something I may not actually get accepted (insuance), if I go now. Also are there any correlations with this butterfly like rash and liver/kidney problems? I am seriously worried that I have some kind of disease like Lupis or somthing. And what is with this pain in my right side will I be okay If I wait for a week?

While you're waiting for medical insurance you could order online a blood test. I'm having one next months CBC/Chemistry Profile for just $45.00. This profile includes tests related to the liver which is AST, ALT, ALB, TBI. This will give you some insight if you do have a liver problem. Also, consider each morning on an empty stomach doing a mild liver cleanse which I outlined about 10 messages below. I'm also taking SAMe (400mg) each morning. Very good for the liver. There's a lot to can do to help your liver. Search and you'll find lots of data. You are very young which is in your favor. It takes many years of hard drinking to destroy a liver.

I would also stop drinking until you know about your liver. Your liver may hurting because of the processing it does with the alcohol. I would look into getting it checked out though. Order the blood test. If they come back high, you will be closer to getting the insurance and then see a doctor about it. I have liver problems and they are NO FUN to deal with.

Hey thank you very much for the replys......I just faxed over my paperwork this morning and I should have my insurance very soon according to my agent......I am feeling better today......Pain is almost gone for the most part.......I didnt sleep very well though. I am planning on buying the liver test....I am very glad that the pain has mostly gone away........If I still had it like it was yesterday I think I would have gone to the doctor anyway....In a way mabe this was a good thing to happen for me.......Nothing short of a wake up call to make me change my unhealthy habits. Thanks for the info.

By the way I just found out that many folks in my family have had gallstones, so, mabe this is what has been giving me problems. I hope that this is the problem and not something worse.

Many pharmacies also offer blood screening tests, not sure what state you live in,but in the west (AZ) there are many food chains that also will do the tests as well. I just saw an add that has a holiday special, the entire package for $50.00, & it seems like they test for everything & more impressive than my last yealry exam that my insurance paid hundreds of dollars for.Good luck to you & let us know how you are.

peace & pain free days
Kisa :)

PS : I thought htey made a federal law that makes it a crime to deny someone insurance with a pre existing condition. does anyone know about that?,or is to be state to state ( I am sure NY passed it)

Kisa, the concept of Pharmacy's offering blood tests for $50 is fantastic. I sure hope this procedure becomes availabe on the East Coast. Last year I went to a doctor for blood tests mostly interested in cholesterol and liver. Well, it costs me $400 for the doctors visits and blood test. I've since learned. I'm now paying just $45 by using an online reputable Alternative Health Foundation that sends me a doctors prescription and sends me to a local blood lab. In NY State you must have a doctors prescription in order to walk into a blood testing lab. I get the results in one week. Since its so inexpensive, I can easily go twice a year. Eliminates having to wait at the doctors office and return for the results and I save $355.

Hello Michaelo1, I know I was shocked when I saw that, maybe because so many move here to retire. Who knows. I have been here for a year moved from RI,NY before that. Yesterday I saw the ad @ a Bashe's store that also alerted us that we may be able to get a flu shot some time this month,(in the frozen food isle).Blows me away, but glad to see the service. for kicks, ask around your area A walmart Pharm. maybe? I am glad that you were able to get your tests done in a cheaper manner than the dr. office. My peace & hope for pain free days sent to all.

Kisa :)
