Hi,
Thought I'd share my good news. Had my first post op visit & xray, everything shows to be healing oK. I'm relieved, since I was worried most about the graft taking--I just haven't had the motivation to quit smoking, even though I know nicotine discourages bone healing. I know it's insane, but I'm just too nervous to quit right now. Not enough distractions!
Symptoms have been Ok, pain is much better, primarily in my hip, and continue taking robaxin for the muscle spasms. The spasms aren't too painful, but are persistent. I've been sleeping better and more, back in my bed finally. And, I don't have to wear the soft collar much anymore. This is a big relief, it was hot. Also, cascara sagrada capsules worked much better and more gently than milk of magnesia, fyi for anyone who's had that problem after surgery.
I'm going to start a new thread on some issues I need to vent about.
Hope everyone's doing well. Later,
Tintx ;)

Way to go, Tintx!
Glad to hear you are doing OK.
I am 12 days post-op today, and finally was able to spend some time in bed last night (three two-hour sleep sessions). My NS released me to go back to PT, so I went today - halleluia! My PT said he had never seen my Trapezius muscles so hard before, and I have been seeing him for almost two years.

As you can probably tell, the surgery and recovery was not too hard for me, but the muscle spasms since have been unreal. I think it is because my problem had existed for so many years before it was properly diagnosed (I thought about posting in your "rant", but I have gripes that go back 26 years and span all sorts of specialists. Just glad I finally have a good MD and PT).

Hang in there!
Izzy
