Has anyone ever heard of this? Sometimes by BM's have a sweet smell to them. I am concerned about it. I read some information a long time ago about certain BM smells that can indicate disease but can't find the article or site anywhere on the net. Any info is appreciated.

I am constantly dieting to battle weight problems - I have Polycystic ovaries disease, and I am currently taking Glucophage XR for insulin resistance and the PCOS. I try very hard to limit my sugar but it seems that the BM's take on this smell when I am not doing what I should sugarwise. I just read on another site that people who can't handle sugar usually store it in their small intestine so maybe that explains it?

People who can't "handle" sugar "store" it in their small intestine? Hmmmm...ne'er heard of that! I mean, one thing I was thinking was that, a diabetic's breath can sometimes be sweet smelling because of ketone bodies...I was wondering maybe if that was the same thing that was happening in your BM, but I don't now how that would work.
I'm stumped.

Me too - My blood sugar level is fine - runs normal. No sweet smell to the breath (No bad breath either - LOL) so I don't know what to think. It doesn't happen all the time so maybe it is just diet related.
Thanks for your input!

Excess sugar is made and stored in your liver. As glycogen and is released as needed.
It sounds like you have been intaking too much sugar or simple as well as complex carbs that are converted to glucose --- and with a very fast transit time it's passing on through and you get that smell--- just my opinion.
There are several good books for dieting --- The Zone and Protein Power. Your problems are extremly difficult to control as you already know !!! But, it can be done.
I wish you well--- Harry
