He's sounds good and healthy to me. Babies will eventually grow into their heads. haha then as they get older they slim down and lose baby fat in their faces and off their knees and thighs. All mine were long and lean. Good luck. Squeeze him for him!!!xoxoxox

My 1st was born at 11lbs 4oz...so 12 lbs doesn't sound strange to me. By 8 weeks he was probably 13-14 lbs. At 6 weeks most babies go through a growth spurt. Sounds like yours is. Yah, it's a shame that all those newborn clothes go to waste...but the upside is that you have a big healthy baby.

Not strange at all.... my DS was born at 7 lbs 1 oz and weighed 11 lbs by 1 month, 13 lbs by 2 months, and 19 lbs by 6 months. He was just a good eater and gained alot of weight fast. Around 8 months he started to plateau and is now 27 lbs at 16 months, and is very tall and on the slim side. All babies grow at different rates, and it you are feeding yours the appropriate foods, don't let anyone tell you he's unhealthy.
My pediatrician once told me that infants don't grow because they eat, they eat because they are growing. Make sense?? The new thought is that young babies don't overeat, they always eat what they need. Good luck.

Sounds normal to me too. My son was 8lbs 2oz when he was born and at a month old I became worried that he had only gained 1lb from the previous week (up to 12lbs from 11)as he was throwing up alot of formula. I was right and to make a long story short he needed to have surgery to correct the problem so he probably would have weighed 13lbs or more if he hadn't had the problem!

My kids were all about 8 lbs....first was 8lb1oz, 2nd was 8lbs11oz and 3rd was 8lbs 6oz. I don't remember what my first weighed at that age, i have it written down somewhere. My 2nd was 10lbs at 4wks (1month checkup), and 14 at 2 months...a big jump, but that was pretty much her only one. my 3rd was about the same, she was about 11lbs at 1 month and i think over 14 at 2 months. She's going to be tall though, daddy is 6'4, so now at 2 she's in the 95th percentile for her height and off the charts for weight...she's not overweight, it's just her body type.
I wouldn't worry, in the begining they tend to gain more weight...it slows down as they get older. I think breastfeeding makes a difference too, breast fed babies tend to be bigger durring the first year i blieve.

My first born (now 23 years old) was born 7 lbs. 8 oz. He was very fat by 2 months. I don't remember his exact weight at 2 months, but by 6 months he looked like he had rubber bands around every joint and weighed 20 lbs. The doctor constantly complained about how fat he was. Now he is 5'7" and weighs 130 lbs. (I call him my Etheopia poster child.) So I wouldn't worry about it.

My little one was 7lbs 8.4oz when she was born. Now at 3 months she is 12lbs 12oz. I was just talking to a friend who said their baby was 10 months old now and wieghs 16lbs. So not to worry. They all grow at different rates. Some just grow a little faster then others. They grow out of it.

sweety don't sweat it! My son weighed in at 21.5lbs on the day he turned 3 months old.. (his check up was then)... he's still really big boy. He is 28 months, and 34" tall and wears a 4T, sometimes a 5T in shirts.
He was purely breastfed then... he eats healthy now.. he's not fat.. he's just big. Love the baby rolls while you can and don't worry! :) :bouncing: :jester:
Oh yeah.. forgot to say.. he was born at 8lbs1oz.. so he wasn't any record breaker.
