Didnt get a flu shot this year... never have. I believe the theroy that the flu shot only lowers your immune system and makes it easier for you to get the seasonal flu. but i have been experiencing some flu sypmtoms... and some other symptoms. first off I have been doing this wierd burping thing (non-stop) but it feels more like im vomiting (nothing comes up mind you), and i have aches and pains (usual thing for me), chills, running nose, sore throat (but no tonsils), loosing my voice (no coughing), head aches, fatigue, and my temp was 97.4... im hoping im just tired but who knows... i do go to public school after all!

Well, the flu shot only protects you from the 3 that can kill you. It won't protect you from the other 200 strains of colds or flus.

Take Tylenol to help with the aches. There's a product called Cold FX. It's supposed to be very helpful in lessening the duration of a cold/flu.
I suggested it to my pharmacist at the start of his cold and he readily accepted my challenge. It was gone in 3 days.

I used to work in a school, and I definitely feel for your "exposure".

I have asthma,so getting the flu shot is a must for me. But, I don't expect to not get a flu at all.

Your fever isn't high, so I would say it's a virus of some sort. What you're experiencing sounds very much what I had just finished with. It affected my asthma ten-fold (which really surprised me as to how much), but the area most affected was from my nose to upper chest and definitely focussed on the larynx area. I didn't lose my voice (this time), but that area of my throat was definitely affected big-time.

Antihistamine will help dry up some of the secretions, and sudafed will help keep the sinuses open. Don't take the antihistamine for more than a few days. It can dry you out too much.

REst, get well, and keep us posted as to how you fare.

Best to you,
quincy
