Does going on hormonal contraception make you gain weight, or is it something else? I heard a friend say that it doesn't actually make you fat; it's because you'll want to eat more. Any truth to this?

Ive heard it is water weight and I have also heard The combination of hormones found in some birth control pills can cause fluid retention, increased body fat, and a bigger appetite in some women. I have been on birth control for 2 years and haven't gained a pound...but every woman will react differently.

Yes.. Every woman is different. In the 5 yrs I was on the pill I gained almost 30 lbs. I just thought 5 lbs a year was normal untill my doc thought the opposite! the only other problem I had with the pill is that it was IMPOSSIBLE to lose weight! and the DEADLY Toll it takes on a sex drive and desire :-(
