Hello,

My 91 yr old uncle's health has been failing the past few months. I saw him in September (I live on the east coast and he lives on the west coast) and though he has been experiencing some memory loss (we think Alzheimers) he was getting around pretty good.
Just two weeks after I saw him, my father called me (he lives with my uncle now) and told me that my uncle had fallen down a number of times during the week and the final fall broke his hip.
He had surgery to repair the break and seemed to be physically recovering. He is currently in a rehabilitation facility.
My mother called me this morning to tell me that my uncle woke up from a nap last night and was staring into no where and was spaced out. He was also drooling from his mouth. The care facility believes he may have had a stroke. (Why they didn't take him to the hospital is another story,,,,) But anyway, is spacing out and drooling a stroke symptom? Has anyone else experienced this similar situation?

Yes, my late husband had several strokes, as well as TIAs, and those were among the symptoms. However, spacing out can also be part of the dementia, as well.
