generally have classic, but mild, tonic clonic seizures.
lately though i've been having an aura (i guess) before them.
i taste metal (very strong) and my skin feels like its burning even though i don't feel overheated. its way weird and starts almost a minute before the seizure.
i didn't think auras and grand mals went together. but...
is it possible?
thanks.

I think with epilepsy tons of stuff is possible. IMHO I don't think it's been studied enough yet.

I think that you can have auras. I had grand mal seizures growing up, then absence, now I have Complex Patrial. I had auras with all three of them. Auras very from person to person. I get a supernatural feeling for mine, or I smell smoke. It does vary alot.

I hope this helps!

It is possible, if they are part of the partial seizures.

Primary Generalized TCs don't EVER produce auras before them.

If you are having a TC that is proceeded by an aura you also have either simple or complex partial seizures.

What happens is that when you have a TC with an aura, is that you actually generalize to that point so fast, that all the clinical signs and symptoms for the SPS and CPS are completely missed (aren't seen by the eye), but the VEEG can see it, though.

At some point you have probably had a SPS or a CPS that you weren't aware of, because to get to a secondarily generlized TC, you have to have already had a seizure foci somewhere with abnomral activity allowing for the process of it spreading to other areas of the brain and crossing over to the other side thus creating a GM.

That is what I can tell you.

People who have auras before their TCs don't have Primary Generalized seizures. They have partial seizures.
