DonnaKay, I need to know how your neck movement is? Do you think you have lost a lot of mobility? Since you have a 2 level fusion I was wondering? I contacted Dr. Baskin and they are looking at all my reports, operating,EMG and my pre and post MRIs. They will we look at the reports and then decide to send me either to their Neurologist, Myleogram or see Baskin. They were very nice over the phone. Julie, that I talked to over was worried about the burning pain I was having in the tricep and chest area. If I did have to have another surgery it would be that I would have fused the c6c7 with the already fused c5c6. I was wondering what mobility I would lose. Right now I can hardly turn my neck anyway. I would say I have lost 25% movement. According to most reports say with a single level and 2 level fusion you hardly notice it. I think the problem with my neck now is that disc is contributing to my loss of range of motion now. I also have severe burning pain in the chest and lat and tricep area.

Thanks Jerry

Hi Aspen, I guess I can add myself to the 2 level fusion too, in 2000 C5-C6, and this September C6-C7, my neck has improved greatly, movement just about normal, still some light numbness in front of my neck, but not bad. My shoulder/arm is killing me by now, well surgery is set for 12/14, so in 11 days, iam not looking forward to it,but this pain is not an option to live with. How are you doing? Martina

Hi Aspen!

About my range of motion ... I can honestly say the only time it is obvious to me that I don't have full range of motion is when I am backing my car out of a parking space. Otherwise, I can look all the way up, down, to the right and left. I'm sorry I am not more technical. I have no pain, no grinding, no burning.

I am so happy you are in touch with Dr. B's office! Julie is wonderful, so is Gail. They all are on the top of my "most favorite" list.

I am extremely grateful to all of them.

The first time I had surgery, I was recommended to Dr. B. (who wasn't on my insurance list) and to another guy. Well, I called the other guy first b/c of my insurance. They couldn't even see me until 6 weeks. I made the appointment and was in tears. I called Dr. B.'s office and made my first contact with Julie, an angel. She could "hear" my pain. She got the MRI report and then ordered the myelogram before I even saw them, and the rest is history. A few weeks after my surgery, I got a call from the other guy's office to confirm my appointment with them. I was like "um, no thank you, I've already had surgery and am recuperating!" I have more stories, but I won't bore ya. :-) I've even had an appointment on a Sunday. I've heard people complaining about the wait in the waiting room, but I never, ever complain b/c I know how lucky I am to be in his care. Dr. B. cares about his patients. Truly cares.

Dr. B. referred me to a surgeon to get my carpal tunnel taken care of. I had the surgery last Wednesday, had Thanksgiving dinner that night, and never looked back. Went to work Monday! I'm sure it's the company Dr. B. keeps. I totally trust him. I jokingly tried to get him to take care of the carpal tunnel when he did my last surgery. lol

I'm curious ... did you happen to tell them how you found Dr. B?

Thanks Molly and DK

DK I am looking forward to hearing from Julie on Monday. I have sent them the final report they are looking for on Fri. I just want some answers on whats going on with me. I have pain in my tricep, elbow, shoulder, chest, lats and my neck is very stiff. I just have one level too. My EMG and MRI shows something wrong with c6c7 nerve root. MY pain has gotten much worse since surgery and in more places. They never gave me a myelogram to make sure which nerve root was being pinched they just went with the MRI. I feel Im on the right path seeing Dr. Baskin. I will mention you after I get my appt.

have to respond here, when i first got my mri there were "multi instances of problems which i didn't remember till after my double level fusion

i did not heal as fast as some due to rhumtoid arthius, and considered by surgon to be in 5 month (of recupuration) instead of (june 1 was surgery date)

some folks notice differences right away others live with pain much longer
what i have noticed in backing car out i have twinges, i still have bad muslce spams from time to time, but i have no numbness in hands and or legs/ feet, and i am also sleeping through the night
Was wondering aspen if you have ever been to a rhumotologist gotten a full work up on imflamation? For some reason that's naging at me bout you.....

Take care and remember we do not all heal at same rate and for some of us it make take much much longer to get back "there"............

Zoey

You could have a point. I now have pain in all my joints such as my elbow, hip, shoulder, wrist and hip. The only weird thing its all on the left side and you would think if it was arthritis I would have it on both sides. How was you diagnosed for RA? Does a bone scan pick that up?

got a referal to rh a doc she did a full thingy from exrays to lab to motion to maping out ranges, she was very good and i knew in less then an hour after all the exams/tests

but only a full fleged rhumotologist can diagnose rh a for you and joint pain can be anywhere for it to be considered rh a

please go check that before you do anything else? there tons of meds and treatment now that can get inflamation under control and rhumotlogists have disease modifing drugs that can change it as well, and mine is wonderful at pain managment........
