I got an abnormal pap back when I was 3 months prego. Then at my 6 weeks, it came back way worse then when I was prego. It's been 3 months since little princess was born and I just had my LEEP done this morning, which went a lot easier then I thought! I got my copy of my pathology report from my previous biopsy from 3 weeks ago though and don't completely understand it. What does it mean when it says "endocervical gland involvement"? It says both biopsies were "CIN III with endocervical gland involvement". I don't understand. Is that bad? Also, if the LEEP procedure didn't get it all...has anyone just went ahead and gotten a hysterectomy to just get rid of it once and for all? I already have my 2 darling angels ;) and don't want anymore so it would put my mind at ease to just get it all outta there. Any thoughts on that? Thanks for any advise/input!

I forgot to add, at the top of the path report it says "Small fragments of dysplastic squamous epithelium compatible with CIN III" also. Don't understand that either! I just want to know how BAD this could be?

Stacy - endocervical gland involvement to me means that the cell changes were glandular and therefore more like adeno. The squamous dysplastic cells refer to the surface cells that line the cervix. Endocervical also refers to the cervical canal area. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get clear margins with your LEEP. Did your doc give you a timeline for the results?

I can understand your concerns, I had a colpo biopsy that showed CIN 3, and the LEEP pathology was able to give a more accurate description of what we were dealing with. In my case it had actually turned into a tiny 1.3mm tumor - but he got clear margins, so now we are waiting and seeing. I struggled with the hysterectomy decision, too, as we are done having children, but in the end, my gyno was not in favor of it. After months of thinking of this, I think I would pursue another LEEP or cone biopsy should this stuff ever come up again. As long as they catch it early. There is also a procedure that can be done that removes your cervix only, and I've often wondered about that.

Anyhow, I'm not sure if my info helped you any, but I hope it did. If you have any questions, just go ahead and ask. I hope you get your results soon!

Karen-
What's Adeno?

Adeno means glandular. Endocervical glandular involvement indicates it involves the glandular cells of your cervix. BEFORE you get really freaked out about that though, it too comes in stages, and it will all depend on your LEEP biopsy results. I don't want you to be scared, just aware of the location of the cell changes. The LEEP biopsy will provide a very good indication of what you are dealing with. Hope that helps.

Thanks Karen. Now I guess it is the waiting game. Should have results by Wednesday next week. Then you can tell me what the new report means!
