undefinedhi im new to this board but not epilepsy. I got my first seizure when i was 16 (3 years ago) and then i was put on meds and had no seizures for about 2 years. Then i started to have partial seizures (less than 30 seconds and no loss of consciousness) about 4 months ago. i let them go for a few months thinking it was just stress until i started to have really bad ones in my sleep and i would wake up on the floor and hurting quite bad, so i went in to the doctor. He switched my meds which only made it worse and then we switched back to my other medication and just upped the doasage 100mg (carbatrol). this seems like the only medicine that works for me about 90 % (ive been on 5 different kinds with horrible side effects and bad seizures). The new added dosage helped a lot(no seizures no auras or anything) for about a month now but just last night i had another partial seziure..my question is: is it common to have these little seizures even on medication or should it work 100%. i know know that i am in college and have loads of school work, girlfriend and lack of sleep which all come into play and make me more of a prime suspect for a seziure then when i was 16 becuase it was just highschool and i always got sleep which i why these might happen..what do you guys experience, are you 100% free of seizures or do partial ones slip through with you guys as well. the past few days ive only had about 5 hrs of sleep  and finals so im not too worried that i will start to have them reguarly, but ill know after schools over if it was just a one time thing or is it coming back. thanks for readin all this, this board seems to be rather helpful since we are all in the same boat

I've had complex partials for about 15 years. I haven't gone more than a month in that time without one. I'm taking 3 different AEDs. There is something called intractable epilepsy. I don't know about you, but that's what I have. I recently went through gamma knife surgery in a hope that it might releive the seizures. I pray they can find a combination of meds that works for you. It takes time and a good neurologist to find the right combo. Have they found the location from your brain where they start? It is posible to do surgery if it is bad enough if they are located in one spot and in the right spot. I pray you can take care of your problem with meds. Good luck and your in my prayers. God bless

I wanted to have surgery so i could get rid of all this annoyance so i went in for an MRI and see if they could pinpoint where they were coming from but alas it showed no scarring. :( So it looks like im stuck with this for a while (he claims i could grow out of this but i doubt it in my opinion).
