most CPAP machine masks blow air into the nose and the machine cant work unless your mouth stays shut in your sleep, I suspect many take the easy way out when asleep and breathe thru their mouths, I know I did
a chin splint may not help, especially if you already had the habit of breathing thru the mouth when asleep
I have taped my lips together with sticking plaster which isnt recommended and is said able to burst blood vessels under some conditions, perhaps some plaster just on the middle of the lips would be OK
I suspect a dry mouth in the morning is mainly from breathing thru the mouth

Why not just switch to a full face mask? Wouldn't that be dramatically easier with no possibility of "burst blood vessels?"
