Hi, i've actually written about this problem before here. About 3 months ago I started feeling weird things in my head and neck. Already cleared. But now 3 months later it's still there but a little less. I get shock-like and stabbing-like pains on the side of my head on the right (some times on the left) behind my ear. These pains usually come on when I hick up or cough. I don't really get head aches much. Also, my eyes sometimes through out the day, feel sore, almost as if they have bruises in them. Usually resting them helps. Also, when I grind my teeth, they feel sensitive and they hurt a little, mostly in the part where I grind them. Also, sometimes when I grind my teeth "the right way", it brings along one of thsoe stabbing pains. Those stabbing pains only last 1 second or so but they happen more often than other days. These little problems last pretty much all day. They are more uncomfortable than anything. They are not pain to the point of staying home from school m,but more like a pain that gets you down and depressed because you never know when it'll come again. In the past 3 months i've had days where I have nothing at all (like last week for example) but now ever since last Thursday it's come back. I don't know why and how to stop it. I take some Aleve during the day but i'm not really sure if that helps. I started seeing a chiropractor about 2 months ago and just when I thought that was helping it wasn't really. He said it could be the muscles in my neck, because sometimes I do get the weird pain in my head when I turn my neck but rarely. All these things seem to not be there in the morning when I wake up but as the day progresses they come back. All the doctors i've seen said its probably stress and that I need to calm down but I just can't. I even did a CAT scan and the results came back okay. Although I have improved over the last 3 months, i'm still not satisfied that it hasn't completely left me. Does anyone know what this could be? Does anyone have the same things? Please help!

I have no clue. How would I go about doing that? And does TMJ affect the head too or just the jaw?

Is your jaw stiff? Does it hurt to chew? Yes it will give you headaches like the ones you describe. Do you grind your teeth at night? Put TMJ into a search engine and check it out. They can fix it.

Hey.i Have The Exact Same Prob As You. I Have Been Diagnosed With Tmj, Trigeminal Neuralgia, An Old Neck Fracture, Which I Was Unaware Of And Now......good Old Fibromyalgia. Where Will It End?
Three Years Down The Line And I Am Certainly No Wiser.
I Have Seen Orthopods, Neurologists, Maxillofacialists, Rheumatologists And I'm Just About Sane.....i Think!! My Drug Cabinet Is Full To Bursting And I Am Still Relatively Young.
My Main Worry Is The Long-term Prognosis

Has anything helped? Has it gone away at all? How long is it you have this?

mikie Trigeminal Neuralgia and TMJ are two different things TMJ stands for Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome, and is a disease or defict of the jaw, look it up in a search engine, it sounds more like your problem. Teepees diagnosis is a much harder disease to deal with and much more rare. It may be neither who knows? I had stabbing head pains and after I started taking melatonin (buy at health food store) they went away.

I have the exact same symptoms and after returning to my doctor several times to please make my ear infection go away, he referred me to an ent. The ent said I had tmj and sent me to an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon says all of my symptoms are tmj related and they include frequent, severe headaches, sharp stabbing throbbing pains in the temple area, sore throat for no apparent reason, I am exhausted, stressed, depressed. It feels like I have an ear infection and a sinus infection, my jaws pop relentlessly. I was given a drug that has now been removed from the market for dangerous effects, and told to use valium, which I don't like to do but it does help. Soft diet, and my gum chewing days are over. Believe it or not, he told me I shouldn't even talk unless absolutely necessary! That's really the only thing I can do unless I opt for surgery. But I am going to try this first, because as I understand it, once you've had surgery, you keep having it.
