My friend is 30 years old and was diagnosed with MS a year/half ago. She said she woke up one day with a severe headache and then her body and legs started to go numb. After numerous tests, diagnoses was MS, unfortunately. But she says she has been stable thus far.

I'm just wondering, she's 4 months pregnant now and could her pregancy progress the MS and make it worst? I pray that it won't. She's a bit of an anxious person and worries about this now. And would the baby be fine?

I had an uncle die at 57 just recently and he suffered 10 years with it. But he caught it very late and his options were limited.

Hi Hope,
Most people with MS find that they have a nice remission during pregnancy, although this is not always the case. Please reassure your friend that having MS does not cause problems for the baby. She should relax and enjoy this pregnancy and get ready to welcome a precious little one.

Best wishes,
Julie

Thanks Julie. That's great to hear. She's well taken care of by her doctor. I was concerned because this disability in itself was very unexpected and out of the blue. She was diagnosed 3 months after her wedding :(
This was just great news. But of course her mother and relatives are worried as well, and they really didn't expect her to start a family so soon after the diagnosis. God is on her side and He'll help her through this!

Hi Hope,
I just found out this year I have ms,but looking at med. history I have had it for years, and in those years I had 2 children and I felt better pregnant than not.It is weird but being PG made me more active and had no sicky feelings what so ever, makes me wonder if some kind of hormones or something was there while I was PG that can be used in research of ms,what I wanted to say is I think your friend will make it fine and what a gift from GOD she will have.I know having my kids give me good reason to fight the pain and get up everyday to be there for them,Your friend is lucky to have you!!

Hi Dessell,
Thank you for your kind words. I wish you all the best as well. Sometimes, we can make things out to be so much worse than they are. I like to believe we all are here for a reason and that we all have something to contribute to this life :)
