I have been an IBS sufferer for the last 7 years and my symptoms have always been mild to moderate depending on the stress in my life. Since I have been pregnant (5 months now) my symptoms have become nearly unbearable. I have increased fiber in my diet and started taking citrucel regularily, but I have these episodes of 4-10 hours of intense pain and significant intestinal contractions (not under my control) where I am unable to leave the toilet for fear of having an accident. These episodes invariably leave me exhausted and out of work sick for at least 2 days at a time. I was hoping that things would get better but it looks like they will only get worse before I give birth which is when I expect to "feel better".

Is there anyone out there with similar problems during pregnancy? Do you have any words of advice? I think it would be nice to know that I'm not alone and that someone else survived this misery. I'm doing my best to keep me and the baby healthy.
