I had colon resection surgery on July 7, 2003.
On Labor Day I noticed a lump in my left groin area,
it could not be seen on the outside but was deeper under the skin. I went to my family Doctor 2 weeks later. He did not think it was a hernia, he measured it and it was 4 cm by 2 cm. So he decided to send me for an ultra sound. The ultra sound showed it was a hernia. My Doctor then did a blood test and sent me for a cat scan. The cat scan showed it was not an hernia. I then went to see my surgeon that did my colon resection surgery. He thought it was an infected hair. But was not postive that it was not a hernia. Gave me 8 antibotic pills to take Thursday night thru Monday morning and to also put warm moist compresses on it 4 or 5 times daily. It has not gotten better. I am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem after their surgery?

I had same surgery on July 3l and the dr. told me that a hernia is a common thing to occur afterwards. Luckily that didn't happen in my case. I don't know why they can't make a definite diagnosis for you. Hopefully, you will be better soon.
