I been having stomach ache and sometimes back and upper dull pain under the right ribs. I had an upper GI and an Ultra scan on me kidneys and gallbladder. I been to my regular dr 5 times and he thinks its GERD. My question is when I go to the bathroom in the morning the stools come out about the size of a quarter brown and somewhat formed but float. About 10 minutes I have to go again and they come out thinner about the roundness of a dime or nickle. Any thoughts.
For the last 8 weeks I have cut down on my normal diet and gave up beer, coffee and any baked goods. I don' eat after 6 at night and have lost 15 lbs. I still work out at the gym 5 days a week and wonder if this is why I lost all that weight.

When you cut out the baked goods you are cutting out a lot of carbs so yes you will tend to loose some weight since carbs turn into glucose. As for your stools I see nothing wrong with them. Your second stool is probably just not as bulked up as your first hence the smaller diameter.

Hi there. Keep an eye on the level of achiness or pain you feel in the upper right quadrant - sounds suspicious for gall bladder problems. Ultrasounds are not foolproof in diagnosing GB problems. I had 2 ultrasounds and 2 hida scans - all which came back normal - although I was extremely ill from an inflamed gall bladder.

If the pain seems to occur soon after eating, and/or your stools turn yellow and loose, your doc needs to reevaluate your symptoms for gall bladder disease.

Good luck and keep us posted,
Katie G

Katie G; Thanks for the reply. I have an appointment with a gastro dr on the 15 of October. I think mabey I have a problem with lactose. Last night I was ok after eating dinner. I decided to have some low fat yougart and for the rest of the night and in the morning I had terrible gas. I ate some oatbran and applesauce and a piece of a banana and I was ok.
