Hi,

I know that the following questions/symptoms must have been reiterated here a million times, ad nauseaum( no pun intended!) but I would really appreciate if someone more knowledgable than I am could help me figure out what is happening to me.

For the past few years I have had an increase in the frequency and intensity of the following: gas, bloating (mainly after eating), undigested food particles in stools, pale yellow stools, transient stomach cramps that come and go in waves lasting anywhere from 2 weeks to a month at a time, dull pain under left rib cage, food allergies, fatigue ranging from slight to severe, muscle weakness, dizzy/lightheadedness and now suddenly, for the past week loss of appetite and waves of nausea combined with an almost constant burning feeling throughout my intestinal track. As well as pressure and pain in my bladder, though it doesnt feel at all like a bladder infection...just pressure. There is something else that is very weird and disturbing. My eyes are very red and inflamed. It's not allergies. It feels like there is a white film that is floating across them that can't be wiped or blinked away. I've had this on and off a few times in my life, which I believed was caused by a severe overgrowth of yeast (candidas) but it has usually cleared up on its own and this time its just getting worse.

I am a 35 y/o female in relatively good shape outside of having to deal with chronic Lyme disease for th past 13 years, which I have every reason to believe has been the root cause of my digestive as well as other immune dysfunctions. I have recently been to a GI who checked me for parasites, which I believe most definitely I have (though that test came up negative). He told me that I had severe malabsorbtion problems and wanted to do a biopsy of my small intestine, but I was too scared to do it.

Could Lyme and yeast overgrowth severely affect your pancreas/liver? Could it also cause the onset of Crohn's or celiac? Can anyone here relate to any of the above mentioned symptoms? Ironically, in the recent past these symptoms tend to be alliviated by strict diet changes and the continuous intake of certain supplements. Needless to say, my life for the past 10 years has been a blur of pain, doctors, diets, and illness. Sometimes it helps when someone can just relate to it, you know?

Thank you for listening! Any advice or comments would be SO appreciated.

Have you ever heard of Whipple's disease? It may be something to consider and may be what your doctor was considering when he wanted to do the biopsy. I'd suggest you do the biopsy.

Here is a link that explains Whipple's disease. It sounds like you have many of the symptoms. Good luck to you and listen to the doctor. ;)

Your doc has offered help by suggesting you get a biopsy to see what is going on so follow his advice and get this done. If nothing shows up with the biopsy then the doc can proceed from there as to what he needs to do next. Your doc cannot help you much if you don't follow through with the recommended testing etc.
