Hi Cindy- -
I'm not sure if you saw my post this AM. I had congratulated you and your hubby for making it through the day nicotene free? How did you guys do on day 2? We did wear 7 mg patches for the whole day today. My dh looked a little more apprehensive about it than I did! LOL! :p But he seemed fine without it, (gum), so we will go from there. Did you guys chew gum or anything like that?
We went Christmas shopping, after my 2 med appts. Oh, BTW, I LOVED the new endocrinologist that I saw today. He actually seemed a lot more knowledgable re: thyroid than the last...yay! :) Anyway, went shopping for about 5 hours. I'm having my cocoa and off to bed now.
I hope you guys are doing well with your nic free program. Don't be too hard on yourself if it gets tough. We have stocked up on sugar free bubble gum. LOL!! It will be nice when we're all nic free and not have to spend any more of our money on nicotene.
later...

Hi Deda,
Actually, yesterday was day 3 off the patch....I'm hoping it's going to get easier now. This morning is starting off pretty good! I get some urges but they aren't too bad. I think I'm past the worst of it. I'm surprised my hubby is having so much trouble. It might be because he wasn't ready to let it go yet but he has succeeded too now. I felt like I was going thru constant withdrawals when I was using the nicotine. I always wanted more! That can be a problem with the gum or lozenges. I wanted to get past the withdrawals once and for all, ya know? I can't chew gum because of my teeth so I just did alot of snacking, lol Guess I'll worry about the weight later.
I am so relieved that you found a good specialist! Maybe he can get you thru this and make you more comfortable at the same time. My prayers are with you Deda!
Nothing much is going on here except for trip coming up for hubby. We haven't heard anything on the close process yet. It should be going thru though.
Love,
Cindy

3 days already..I lost track girl! LOL! That's pretty darn good. Yeah, I know about wanting a piece of it constantly, weird huh? I think you'll be fine by today or tomorrow, it will all be gone clean out of your system. Wow, first time in how many years, Cindy? That's something to be very proud of. :nono: I hope your hubby is feeling okay by now. You should of seen my dh's face when I suggested patches instead of gum, and then taper off of that...he was like... Like, "you want me to give up my gum?" yikes!..But he does hate it every time he goes off to buy a box, paying close to $80 for the large box. It's time I think...LOL! Out of sight, out of mind!
Thank you for the good wishes with new doc Cindy. I started an all new med for it today too. Wasn't doing well anyway for the last 14 months on the last one. Pray this works, okay?! I want to go to NC to visit my dd come this April! Now they are talking about buying a new home there. ugh! :( I hope your closing goes smoothly. Did you guys pick out a home over the net?
take care, and don't even think about those lonzeges now. You are nicotene free baby! woo-hoooo..... :jester:

Hey Deda,
That's so funny about your hubby......mine felt the same way, LOL I know he wasn't ready yet but I feel like the nicotine companies are ripping us off. They know it's addicting, almost as addicting as cigs but they also know that their customers feel it's safer than cigs. I'm sure they would prefer you stay on their product forever! I'm not about to give them the money, plus more.......that I should be saving from not smoking. If I need an antidepressant, I'll go to a doctor and only pay $15 for a month's supply. As it stands now, I don't want to be on anything at all.
That's great that your on all new meds! Let me know how it works for you. This could be just what you need!
I'm getting to where it's hard to sit here, the hot flashes keep hitting me. Guess I'd better get up and feed my dogs.
Have a great day,
Cindy

I feel like they are rippng us off too Cindy. But if it wasn't for them, I doubt I'd be a non smoker right now! LOL! So, I guess we do owe them that, but they do keep jacking the price up tho. Like you said, they know some of us will get hooked on it. :(
Actually our health plan, (kaiser) will give it to us free of charge, for up to a whole year now. But first you have to take their classes, which is either once a week for 8 weeks, or one big condensed course, given in 4 hours, I think. Well, I took the class 2 x already. Trouble was, I made friends with other ladies there, and then we hung out together. We even got a few of the ppl from our last class, and we all met at a coffee shop each week, and thought that would help, we'd support one another. As soon as one of my girlfriends in that group started smoking again, I caved, and smoked again as well. (she's still my friend, and she can't believe I quit for over a year now) So I thought, no more smoking cessation courses for me. :nono: I also took the classes at the base hospital (years ago) at least 5 X. (fee gum and patches there too) That was back in the '80's and early 90's. I think in those days I wasn't truly wanting to quit, but was giving into cries and pleas from my kids and other family members. This time I was really ready. But it's a good deal, if you want to get the free gum. (well, you pay your co pay)
Oh Cindy, that's terrible girl about your hot flashes! I know some friends have told me they are so awful. And my mom, poor thing, really suffered. That's why she stayed on Estrogen for like 16 years. She tried to quit them for a couple of yrs, but they returned with a vengence. There's a women on our thyroid board here who claims she has hers under control by taking flax seed supplements, or oil, or something. You can get that at a health food store. I thought I heard vitamin E for them also? Have you tried going to a health food store and asking the ppl that work there what is good? Those ppl are pretty knowlegable, and they know from what other customer's tell them what works well. I'm sorry Cindy, I hope you can find something to help that. Do you just have them all day? prayers for you (((((hugstoo)))))
How many days now without lozenge?

I'm glad to hear there are still some medical providers that will pay for the nicotine aids. I have to admit, I had always thought the cessation classes were good, especially since it helped me quit the first time. I guess the key is to not become close friends with anyone in it. I can see that happening, now that you mention it.....forming a friendship and then someone falls off the wagon. I remember going into the classes wanting a cig really bad....then walking out not wanting one anymore. I was afraid I couldn't quit this time without a class but I made it. Maybe it was because I had someone to do it with. Luckily, my hubby didn't fall off the wagon, LOL I have to admit, I've never seen him as grumpy as he has been lately. He wasn't even this bad when he quit smoking. I don't understand why getting off the nicotine is so hard for him. How's your hubby handling the patch right now?
Well, gotta start my day.

Hey Cindy--Yeah, the classes though are really good, but you know, I've taken SO many of them, and managed to quit each time. But I think if we are truly wanting to quit, then we don't need a class, we can just do it, as we've now proven to ourselves. But I don't want to discourage anyone from taking a class. They do teach you a lot of coping skills, and it is motivating to be in a group like that too. They give you a little "diploma" type thing when the last class ends, (I had a whole box of em!) :) LOL
Well, to tell ya the truth, we're still on the gum. :o We just did the patch as a "one day trial". And actually, we both did fine. But we still have gum left, and I don't want to do it just now, as I'm still going through the up and downs of changing thyroid meds. So, we have cut down to only 2 pieces a day. Which I'm finding is not that hard to do. My hubby did quit a few months back, (the gum), and he looked so pitifully depressed, that one day when I was shopping, I went and bought him a box! I know, I shouldn't have done that, but I felt sorry for him. Maybe it just takes a while to get used to life without nicotene. It is a very powerful little drug, isn't it? Wish we never got involved with it in the first place! :nono: Oh, hindsight is so 20/20, isn't it?! But at least we're all not smoking, which is wonderful. :D My hubby will be 2 years this March. Cindy, how long for you and your hubby now, 8 months?
Is your hubby on his trip to Utah yet?
take care, girl...

Deda, you are sooooo funny! LOL A box full of diplomas, huh? LOL I love it!
I would probably wait on quitting the nicotine too, you definately need to have your medicine regulated first. Too many changes can be too stressful! Why am I considering you lucky that you don't have to stop yet, lol I sure do miss it but I'm handling it ok. Hubby seems to be adjusting somewhat. It's an anti-depressant that we've taken most of our lives. It makes me wonder if he will be a different person permanently?! I know I don't feel as positive as I used to. That might have something to do with the change of life too. We've been off the nicotine about a week now. Funny I don't remember the actual day. I do remember when we quit. It was April 3rd. It has been a little over 8 months now. Occasionally I walk by people who have just had a cig and I can honestly say now, I can't stand the smell of it. I wonder how the non-smokers have put up with that odor as long as they have. I was the only smoker in my family (mom, dad & 2 sisters). I used to sneak around to smoke. I know now they had to have known I was smoking! I think I'm smelling too many odors now. There are alot of them I wish were still masked for me, LOL
Finally a cold morning in Florida. I guess we're pretty spoiled, it's about 40 degrees out here and I froze my butt off when I went out petsitting this morning! It's going to be alot colder in the winter in Saint George, I hope I adjust to it, LOL
Hugs,
Cindy

You think I should've framed them all and hung them in our office, huh? LOL!!
Hey, don't consider me lucky yet, I still have to go through it again, (nico w/d), and you will be way past it when I do, you'll probably not be giving it any thought anymore. How is it going this week, any better? Get hooked up with some fireballs or something if it's still pestering you!
Wow, April 3 will be here before we know it and we'll be celebrating you guys 1st anniversary. Time goes fast...and we thought we couldn't do it.
So Cindy, you were the only one to smoke in your family?! That is kind of unusual. My dad did smoke, and my mom only smoked for a couple of years, and it happened to be when I was in High School. My dad did catch me one morning when I was 16. I was in my room having a cig, and he came in to tell me to get up for school. Told me if he ever caught me again, :nono: he would tan my hide. So I was very careful after that, and went into my bathroom and blew it out the window. LOL! hehehe It was hard to take no smoking orders from someone who smokes too! :nono: Now I lecture him about his smoking. He really doesn't smoke anymore, but when I take him to the casinos, he does smoke, and he's 81 years old now!!
Cindy, you said that you are smelling TOO MANY odors now?? I say the same thing. My sense of smell has become SO heightened, it's almost making me nauceous (sp?) at times. And I'm not kidding either. Do you notice this? It took quite a while to get like this too. I guess those smokes were masking a lot of my sense of smell, more than I thought they ever did!
Those cold Utah days will feel good on your hot flashes...LOL! But I too prefer it warm!
Have a wonderful day today, girl! :jester:

LOL, I got busted sooooo many times smoking. I can relate to the smoking out the window, I used to do that too. Like that really made a difference, LOL I was afraid to smoke in front of my dad, even as an adult. He was very strict because of people in our family that had died from it. He and my mom had split up when I was in the 7th grade and I lived most of the time with my mom from that point on. She didn't give me a bad time, I think she blamed their divorce on my smoking. This, of course, had nothing to do with it. Don't think I didn't take full advantage of it though, lol
Oh yes, I totally relate to the odors making you sick to your stomach! It just makes me want to gag. I need to find other ways to mask this stuff, I don't think I'll adjust to that kind of funk! Oh gross!!!
We are getting very cold days right now in Florida, can you believe that I'm hot flashing in the cold weather??? I don't know how that's possible but it's happening. I've never had hot flashes last this long before, I wonder if it's the stress of selling this house and trying to find another one. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you......I am finished with the withdrawals now. I've calmed down so much. It's made me realize how you are always going thru some form of withdrawal when you're on nicotine or smoking. It was a constant up and down. I feel alot steadier now. I wish I could say the same for depression but that may have alot to do with menopause. I hope all of it will settle down once all this is over and we're in our home in Utah. I'm sitting on pins and needles just waiting for the sale of our home to be finalized too. My neighbors are as slow as molasses. The appraiser came Monday and appraised both our homes, since their son is buying theirs too. I know ours should pass fine but I hope theirs does too. Neighbors said the rates are not locked in yet. The underwriting has to be done all over again if that changes, too many things can go wrong still!
Well, will get a shower and move on with my day.
Have a good one,
Cindy

Hi Cindy--
Glad to hear this! That is so great! So this is your first time to be nicotene free in a longggg time, huh? :nono: ...you should celebrate!!! How's your hubby doing with it now? Any better, or still a little down? I hope he is feeling as good about it as you are now.
I'm sorry I took so long to reply. Our computer was having a problem, everything seemed to be locked up,,,, couldn't post or type at all, only read, and too lazy to pull out my laptop and set it up.
That is so funny about your mom blaming your smoking on the divorce. Do you know that my mom let me smoke too? (It's so crazy, huh?) She would even ask me to light her one on the stove if she didn't have any matches! LOL But my dad, now when he was home, no way would I smoke. But once I was married, I didn't mind doing it in front of him. Rebel that I was, I rather enjoyed seeing him squirm! :D
I think everything will go fine with your sale. Try not to worry, it won't help anything. Besides, I'll say a prayer for you, and you will have an escrow  watching over everything. Did your hubby go out there (Utah) yet?
Well, time to go to bed, it's like 1:15 AM. Notice I'm a night owl..and you get up with the chickens...lol!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers girl,,

Oh Cindy...forgot to mention this to my post above....about the odor thing driving us crazy...maybe we can mask it by burning incense like we did in the 70's, remember? LOL! Gotta do something, it's driving me, (and my hubby doesn't seem bothered by it, so I'm driving him crazy!) Does some sandelwood sound good? hehe...I miss those days. :(

Hi Deda,
I remember incense! As a matter of fact, a lady I petsit for.....burns it occasionally because of the smell of cat box. I can't burn anything like that because of my cockatiels. Anything like that is dangerous to them. I have these 2 that I handfed (hatched last January) and I am extremely attached to them. They're my little guys! :) The best I can do is put cinnamon sticks and lemon in a crock and heat it up.
Hubby seems to be alot better. He's leaving tomorrow for Saint George. I asked the neighbors yesterday to call and see how the close is going but I haven't heard back from them. I was hoping we would know a little more before he left but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Looks like he will have to make an offer with a contingency (sp?) that we sell our home. I hate to do that...they may not accept our offer since the homes are selling fast out there. I hope this trip isn't a big waste of money :( I like that.....escrow  LOL Wouldn't that be funny if there really was one?! Maybe Samantha is my escrow angel?! You never know.
How are the new meds doing? Do you like this doc alot better?
Bye for now,

Hey Cindy--
The new meds didn't agree with me, so back to the old one. I just seem to be extremely sensitive now to thyroid medication. But I'm okay. I did force myself out into the garage tonight to walk 2 miles on my treadmill. It's been so darn cold lately, that I don't even want to go outside. brrrrr....rrrrrr. :(
You are a real animal lover, aren't you? Now, when you move, will you be able to take along your cockatiels with you? That will be a little sad if you can't. So you are still walking dogs everyday with your pet sitting job? That is good exercise for you Cindy. Have you gained much weight since you quit smoking? I have gained 10 lbs, but I can't blame it all on quitting, as I usually gain a little in the winter anyway. Less active, and we stay home more, snuggling up watching movies and eating little snacks, trying to stay warm. Glad to not be smoking, being out in the freezing cold all the time to have a smoke.
Yes, there really is an escrow angel, see... WHO is Samantha? LOL! hehe
Hope it goes smoothly, and your hubby returns home with lots of good news!
take care girl,
Deda :)

Hi again Deda....I'm so sorry your new meds didn't agree with you! I was hoping it would make a big difference for you in a very positive way. I hope they come out with a new drug soon that will be everything you need. My prayers are with you.
We are going thru a very cold spell here too. Well, this is very cold for Florida. We are in the 30's and 40's right now but today is supposed to climb to 69. Unfortunately it will be short lived, only last 2 or 3 days but we will take what we can get.
Hubby went to see houses in Saint George yesterday. It was a disappointment. There were only 3 that were in our price range and they were definately a step down for us. But, there is hope. They are going to another town that is about 20 minutes away from there today. You're not going to believe the name, lol This place has nicer houses in our price range. The town is called Hurricane!!! Go figure, lol I'm hoping we find one there. I sure wish the neighbor's bank would call them back. They've left a message but no return call yet. I want this close to be over so that we know we can confidently get our next home, ya know?!
Being off the nicotine is working out very well although I occasionally still miss all of it. As strange as this sounds, I seem to miss it more when I'm in a happy-celebrating mood. I guess I can deal with it since I don't have many of those moments, LOL
I'll let you know when there's any further developments. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Hugs,
Cindy

I didn't answer any of your questions, did I?! Samantha was my daughter, I sure hope she has some pull for me up there, lol Also, I have found homes for all but 2 of my cockatiels, these 2 are definately coming with us. I could never leave them behind. About the weight gain, yes.....I have gained quite a bit but I don't go on the scale so I don't know how much exactly. I'm sure alot of it will come off when I'm traveling. Last hurricane season, I had lost probably about 30 pounds or more from being scared out of my mind. I got alot of comments from people. If we get stuck here thru the next season, I know I will loose it again, LOL I just pray it doesn't come to that!

Hey Cindy--
Know whatcha mean about the weight gain...::sigh::. It will be my next New years resolution, but it will be nice that my resolution won't be to quit smoking like it is EVERY new years! lol!
So your daughter lives there where your heading? That is great, Cindy. Will make it nice! And grandchildren there as well? Wow, how does one move cockatiels? Very carefully, I suppose. Cindy and her traveling zoo! lol! You are one tuff cookie! You won't get bored. You are so sweet to take them all with you, and I'm sure you must really love them all. :)
I bet after the new year there will be a lot of ppl coming here that want to quit. There were so many last new years. I think it's great though.
Cindy, keep up the great work, and I really hope you get out of there before hurricane season. (I'm sure you will, but when does it start?)
have a wonderful day girlfriend,
Deda :)

Hey Deda, Remember....my daughter died in a car accident about the same time your brother did. My grandchildren are in Tracy, CA with their dad. I was kidding about her being my mortgage angel :)
Anyways, got news! Our house has gone to the underwriter and will come back to loan person on Friday. They think it will go thru just fine. I hope that means we close next week. Also, hubby is coming home today but has found a home for us. The kicker is that the name of the town is Hurricane, LOL So, we will be living in Hurricane, Utah! The house is gorgeous inside and the owner accepted our offer. We now have a contract. It is scheduled to close no later that Jan 14 but the owner has requested to have one more week after that to leave. We were fine with that. Hopefully, we will be leaving the 3rd or 4th week in January and will stop in Mississippi for a visit with hubby's parents. sooooooooooo, YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doing fine off the nicotine lozenges! Wish there were another fun way to celebrate, lol!

It's too hectic to enjoy the holidays this year. It sounds like you plan on being warm and cozy which is alot easier to do when you don't have to keep going outside to have a smoke, right? Oh, it is so cold here and I am oh so glad I don't smoke anymore!!!

Hi Cindy--
Sorry took so long. I've been taking a little break from the boards, been kinda tired lately.
Yes, I am so glad that we no longer smoke, AS IT'S FREEZING OUTSIDE all the time now. Can't believe I used to be so crazy, and be out there in the garage, smoking all of the time. I hate winter, and I'm already counting the days until Spring.
We'll be spending the New Years eve holiday at home. We usually go to the casinos in NV, but I'm not up to it this year. We'll make our own fun here at home. I'll go get some movies tomorrow, snacks, etc. At least we'll be warm, right? :) So what is Cindy and her DH doing for New years eve? Hope you have a happy one no matter what you choose to do! :D HAPPY NEW YEAR!! :jester:
till later,

Hey Deda,
You should be just about over the withdrawals now! Yay is right!!!! Good for you girl, isn't it nice not having that nagging habit anymore? The only problem we have now, is what to do about the need for instant gradification??? I miss the anti-depressant part of the nicotine. I need to find something that will improve my moods and additudes, ya know? :)
We didn't do anything for New Year, just went to bed. I'm almost afraid to know what 2005 will bring. I hope I will be spending it in Utah, if this house ever closes. We are in the last week, they'd better close on time.....the house in Utah is depending on it. I haven't posted because I've been waiting to be able to say that we closed. Hopefully, my next post will be all about that ?!
Hang in there girl.....you're thru the worst of it. It can only get better!
Hugs,
Cindy

HI Cindy--
Yeah, it's getting better. Just keep feeling like something is missing all the time, ya know?? I'm sure it will get to where that funny sense of loss will go away soon.
As for the antidepressent effect, well I know what ya mean. (care for a little Zoloft?) hehe, I was on that years ago, for anxiety issues. That was a bi*** to get off of too!!! :( I've been thinking about trying a little St. John's Wort. Have you ever tried that? I figure, I already take a ton of supplements, what one more?
I hope the deal on your home closes soon. Try not to worry. And I'll say some prayers for you on that! You'll be in Utah before you know it! ;)
Well I'm glad the holidays are now behind us, and now I will start the countdown to Spring! I can't wait!!!!! :nono:
How is your hubby faring without the nicotene now? My hubby seems okay, but he does tell me that at times he still misses that gum. He went to Walmart the other day to pick up a few things for me, and said that he passed the nic gum, and almost picked up a box. He says he misses the taste of it. I told him it's more likely the nic that he's missing, and just forget about it, try not to think about it at all, if you can.
Sure would've been an easier life had we never started smoking in the first place, ya know?? LOL :dizzy:
You have a wonderful day!

Hi Deda,
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. We are constantly feeling like something is missing, no rewards! We both feel like we have nothing to look forward to, as rediculous as that sounds! I guess that feeling would be gone by now if we had quit without the nicotine aid. I don't think I would've succeeded without it though.
Tell me about this herb. What have you heard about it and does it really work? What would the dosage be? I feel like I need something right now. I know it would be crazy to go back to the nicotine aid, the withdrawals were too rough to go thru that again. I never felt totally satisfied from them anyways. I think I could say the same about smoking. I was never completely satisfied when I had a cig. I always felt like I needed more. What a terrible trap! Those cig companies really put the hurt on us.....I heard they actually added more nicotine to make our addiction worse. When you finally break away from smoking and nicotine, it's very obvious. It's no wonder that depression is the biggest thing you go thru when you quit.
We are being told that we should close Wednesday or Thursday and absolutely no later than Friday, LOL Our home in Utah is supposed to close by the 14th, which is only one week later. The containers are supposed to be here on the 21st, we get 2 1/2 hours per container....to load. It could take anywhere from 6 days to 2 weeks for our belongings to get there. We figure it will take us about a week to travel since we would like to spend a few days at his parents in Miss. That will depend on any storms that may develop. We might have to leave earlier to avoid a major storm. I am so anxious to have all this behind us!
I hope your hubby is able to shake the need for the gum.....it's a constant battle when you're on the nicotine. :bouncing: The only relief is to get away from it completely. I am definately alot calmer now. Not so many extreme highs and lows. I just need to find something for the mild depression.....or it may just go away on it's own.
Take Care,

Hi Cindy--
Well about the Saint John's Wort, I haven't tried it, YET. But I've seen on many boards here that some people have had success with it. One guy posted here before, that he used it to help him quit smoking, and it was working for him too. :) I thought that I had read the suggested amount to take was around 400 mgs a day. I've read that it works well for mild depression.
We could go and post an inquiry about it on the vitamins and supplements board, or on the anxiety & stress boards to find out more about it. I want to try it as every year at this time, I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder. As soon as Spring arrives with warmer, sunnier days, my moods start lifting, and the darkness fades.
Wow girl sounds like you've got that whole move planned down to a science. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. But if it doesn't, don't let it get to you too much. Worse things could happen to us. (just look at those poor people in Indonesia) I'm sure some how things WILL work out for you, and you'll be headin' west before you know it! :nono:
Yes, I agree with you about the nicotene, that we just need to get away from it, or we're just going to keep on wanting it forever and ever! At least now we are finally free from it... FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST!!! ;) Thank God almighty....
Cindy, are you still walking the dogs every day? Walking helps the depression a lot too. Rent some funny movies, bring some laughter in to your life. I know I need to work on this too. Winter is so dreary, and don't forget, we are nico free for the first time in many, MANY years!! We will get through this girl. SMILE :D as much as you can!
Soon we'll be :bouncing: again!

Hi Deda,
I did some reading on the internet and found that the herb does cause side effects. I don't think I want to try it before we leave, don't want some of those problems while we're traveling. I have to admit, hubby and I are biting each other's heads off right now. He even admits that he doesn't have the patience he used to have and that's a requirement for us to get along. We closed on this house last night but we still had a major blow up. The seller in Utah is pushing us to close early....they are shooting for the beginning of next week. We need to get the money out and the Title company on this house still didn't have the check from the bank but expect it Monday. We are having her wire it to our finance guy in Utah. You really can't push it any faster than that. With all that's going on, I wish we hadn't stopped the nicotine yet. I'm not sure what to do, I am no longer petsitting since we have to turn our leased car in. I guess we just have to get thru it on our own.
Well, I have alot of work to do so I will post more later.
Take Care,
Cindy

I'm so sorry you're having a tough time right now, but I know exactly where you are coming from girl. We have been through all of that stress too with our many moves, (mine was always 100 x worse than his though) but I know that dealing with selling/buying a home about takes the cake. I remember when we were going through buying this one, boy did we have some major fights! And don't know why, as we were both on the same side, you know! Just stress induced, I'm sure. Luckily, it will all pass Cindy, once all of the closing is done, matters taken care of in purchasing new house, and once you get everything packed up, and on the road, you're going to feel so much relief. Hey, if you are regretting giving up the nicotene at the wrong time, then go for it! It's not like you can't give it up again! :nono: I just don't want to see you have a relapse because of all that stress, and then end up back on the smokes. (and I know that you don't want that either). So do what you have to do, nobody is going to judge you for it. Have you thought about asking your Dr. for something to help you?
You are in my prayers, girlfriend. Don't worry, it will be better soon..
Deda :)

Hi Deda,
I haven't caved from the stress yet. Neither one of us really want to go back on the nicotine again. Now we're going thru the close in our Utah home. It's late, of course. It was supposed to close this Friday but looks like it will be a week late. As long as they're gone by the 27th....everything should be fine. Have you watched the weather lately? St George is having some real problems. We were looking at Mesquite first, then St George and finally Hurricane. They are all having their share of problems but Mesquite and St George are having serious flooding problems. Especially St George.....homes are falling into the swollen rivers. Hurricane is supposed to be in a valley but our home is on a hilly area (supposed to be the cliffs). I guess mudslides would be our greatest concern there, hopefully not. Driving thru this crazy weather is a scarey thought. We should be on I-40 from around the 25th thru the 27th or 28th. I think the area we should be most concerned about would be the last few hundred miles after we get off I-40. We may have problems getting thru those roads. What is with this wierd weather, I hear it's a mild El Nino but I've had enough of this. I really wish things would go back to normal!
I don't know if hubby and I will ever get back to the peace and happiness we used to feel. Every time we seem to calm down, just a tiny disagreement can spark it again. Neither one of us have any patience at all. If I could, I would turn off the news but we need to stay current on things right now, especially the weather. I'm looking forward to the day when weather has little to no importance to me again. Gosh Deda....I know this is a very negative post and I'm sorry about that. On the bright side, my hotflashes have pretty-much gone away, lol. The sun is shining in our 70's weather here in Florida. A front is on the way but we have had 8 straight days of reaching 80 out here. Pretty nice....huh?
Hugs,
Cindy

Oh Cindy,,,
Would you please send some of that 80 degree weather in this direction, pul-ease!! I'm about sick of this freezing cold weather!! lol I haven't seen it this cold here since the 1980's. BLAH! I'm shivering all the time, because having this hypothyroid, I can't stand up to the cold very well!! At least your weather is good right now, be thankful for that. :)
Yes, I have read about the floods in Utah, NV, etc. Glad your new place is UP on a hill! I think you'll be okay there. I did read that 18 homes have been lost in St. George. Seems like the weather has gone crazy all over the US ever since that tsunami hit Indonesia. Or maybe it is El Nino again.
Glad you are getting by fine without the nicotine, smoking, etc. I was very worried about you guys the other day. You will be okay Cindy. Have faith, it will all work out in the end. Soon you'll be over there settling in, and you'll be telling me how much you love it there! I can hear ya already! :) I do think I know what you mean about wishing you did not have to think or worry about the weather so much. You've been through the mill with bad weather this year, girl! :(
It's so chilly, I've barely left the house lately. My husband is insisting I get out this weekend, no matter what. Would love to go to the casinos, but don't want to mess with driving through all that snow, so maybe we'll go to the big flea market/auction up in Sactown, or the wharf. Hey that sounds good, then we can eat some steamy clam chowder,,, homemade, no less!
Glad you are doing so well without the nicotine, Cindy. I'm proud of you! And vent all you want. It's okay to post a negative post, afterall, this is a smoking cessation board. How did we handle all of these frustrations before? We smoked- -a LOT! At least we don't do that any more!
take care,,

Well Deda............the warm weather must be on it's way to you because it has certainly left us here, LOL I can't believe a week from now we will be on the road! The first part of the trip should be ok....we'll only be going as far as my in-laws in Miss. Have you noticed that the weather has calmed down for now? I'm sure it won't be this nice when we get going, my luck never goes that way. I don't blame you for not wanting to fight the snow to get to the casinos. I wouldn't drive thru that if I didn't have to. If you don't go to ski, you might as well wait for that to clear out. It's pretty cool that we're going to be so close to all that. I was told that Mesquite is where alot of people from the east side, like to go to gamble. They've had their share of bad weather too but when things clear up....it would be fun. We're only going to be about 45 minutes to that town. I guess it's only about a 2 hour drive (maybe less) to Vegas from our house. I haven't seen it in awhile.....I'll bet it's changed alot. The last time I saw Vegas was probably about 10 or more years ago. Mesquite probably looks alot like Vegas used to look back then. It's hard to believe I'm going to be so close to all of that again. I'm even closer than I was when I lived in San Jose.
We will be taking the computer down in the middle of this coming week. Again, I will have to change internet providers. I made a list of my favorite places so hopefully I'll get back here smoothly. I don't know if this site will still recognize me. Do you have any idea how that works?
Oh well.....things to do.
TTYL,
Cindy

P.S..............
Are you and hubby off of the nicotine yet? If the cold weather is getting to you so bad....maybe it would be better to wait a little bit. I hope it will be a smooth transition for both of you when that time comes.
Hugs,
Cindy

Hi Cindy!
Girl, I hope you see this before you disconnect and pack up your computer!! We are in L. Tahoe right now, and will be leaving in a few hours. We came up on Friday. (It's cold but beautiful!) I brought along my LT, but haven't been able to log on till now, as we've either been downstairs in the casino, or up here in our room. So nice to get away. :)
About getting back to this site, after you get hooked up again in Utah...just log on to healthboards.com, then log on by entering your username and password, and then you'll be able to post messages again. :nono: And I will definitely be waiting to hear from you, to hear how it all went!
Hey, yes I know where Mesquite is at... I remember that we stopped there, (back in '75) when we were moving to Neb. It was such a pretty little town. We stopped at a park and ate, and let our son play at a park. He was only 2, so that was 29 years ago! Blu-est sky I had ever seen at that point in my life. (remember, we were coming from SoCal!)
Cindy, I wish you and your hubby a safe and wonderful trip, and I hope it will be fun too!! So when you get there, will you be staying in temp. quarters, or moving right in to your new home? I just hope you get hooked up to the NET real soon! :D
To answer your other question, re: the nicotine...we are doing A-OK without it, thank goodness. And the weather has improved. The sun is shining again, yay, and the rain has quit, and we made it up here w/o chains! My only problem now is I'm eating like a real piggy! Have you noticed if you are eating more since you got off the nicotine??? I think part of it too is just boredom, from staying indoors so much, due to the cold weather. Today I am starting to really watch my diet, and I am getting on my treadmill again today, for at least 30 minutes!!!
Please let me know if you read this, and good luck on your trip and God's blessings to you!
(((((hugs)))))

Hi Deda,
Thanks for your help girl.......I hope I remember the password I used, LOL Yes, we will be going straight to the house when we get there. I can't write much because my desk is already torn down and it's very hard to type. I will come back on as soon as I can to let you know how it went. We are leaving on Friday but won't have the computer back on-line til around the beginning of Feb. We will be traveling thru that last week in Jan after our stop in Miss. Could you please say a prayer if you happen to remember? I'm concerned about my pets, 4 dogs and 2 tiels. It's going to be hard on them even if the weather is good. I just want to get them there safely.
Have fun in Tahoe.....I used to love going there! Yes, I've eaten like a pig myself.....hopefully that will go away. I've gained weight but I know I can loose it if I really try. You'll loose it, you'll see.
Bye til Feb,
Cindy

Cindy--Just in case you see this later today...of course I will say a prayer for you, that your trip will go smoothly, you all get there safe and healthy, including doggies ans teils. And that you and your hubby are still healthy and smoke free!! :)
If you did forget your password, I think by contacting healthboards, they will help you with that. In fact, I'm sure they will. :)
God bless and Godspeed...
