Hi,
I went to a surgeon today because I developed several thrombosed hemorrhoids. He took a look and said my whole anus is surrounded by them. Very red, swollen and bleeding. OUCH!!
I've had worsening constipation over the last year do to a sluggish bowel which is probable due to nerve dysfunction due to my Multiple Sclerosis. I never have an urge to defecate. I just go in and sit hoping I will go. I've taken Metamucil twice a day, Miralax, Fiber one, etc. The only thing that is helping lately is Zelnorm. Has anyone taking it? Have you noticed any rash developing especially on the face? Not sure if this is causing it or not.
Secondly, my surgeon gave my prescription strength Anusol to shrink the hemorrhoids before he removes them. I'm not sure how he does that. Is this a hospital stay? They are external so I'm not sure. I see him next week to see if they have shrunk enough to remove.
Thanks for listening.

Since you have MS which can cause a lot of problems including constipation you need to continue with the Metamucil and also add colace aka docusate to help keep your stools soft. Drink plenty of prune juice or eat prunes. If by the third day you haven't had a decent BM go ahead and use a suppository.
