Hi I am new here. I seem to have alot of questions to all of you that have been through this already.
I am told that my doctor will not be using my bone or artificial disk but some kind of artificial cement or something. And he will be using metal plate.
I am wondering if I am suppose to hold my neck still or does it matter, and what to expect after surgery.
Any help would be great. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from some one. :)

 Hi Deb, I had C6-7 fused, the NS used a donor bone and my bone marrow, with plateing, you asked if you need to hold your neck still,If you mean prior to surgery, that would depend on the pain level you are at, try not to hurt yourself,I wore a soft collar prior to surgery, because the pain was so great that any movement sent me to hell, after surgery I wore a hard collar for 10 plus weeks, that was on all the time,I am healing well now ,4 months in to it,although certain neck movements are still tender, and sleeping on my side has to be done just right , as far as my neck is concerned,Take care, listen to your body, I wish ya the best, and keep asking questions, no one minds here, we are all in the same boat , :D Diana

Thanks Diane,
Tomorrow is the big day, and I am so ready to get this over with. I guess I am just tired of all this pain. I know I will be in pain after surgery but I know I am one day closer to healing.
Reading all the post on here has been a great help and I will let anyone who wants to know about surgery.
Thanks to all who has posted,it sure has helped :bouncing:

Deb,
Best of Luck with your surgery tomorrow, and I'm hoping you will feel so much better afterwards! I had c45 done on 11-23, and am doing nicely, no complications. I had bone graft taken from hip which was pretty painful at first, but it's already much better. I'm not 100% yet, but feel pretty good, have been sleeping in bed for nearly a week, and have greatly reduced pain med and muscle relaxants. Success story, so far.
Keep us posted!
